I was just asking a question about where you got it. When the trooper stated they were looking into his record was looking for answers.

I got it from multiple articles online, a quick google search will pull up a ton of them with the same records.

Unfortunately the records of the cops involved aren't as readily available to see if they had issues in the past.

Also the store owner said he was saying, "What did I do wrong?" and seemed generally afraid.

So he did have his hand up palm facing the cop and it looks to me the cop reached up and pulled it down (notice that his left hand is also palm up by the way).

The other thing like I said, is how did the cop know he had a gun without it coming out of his pocket? If the man reached for the gun and pulled it out - how would it end up back in his pocket? If the man had reached for a gun, and the cop caught him and reached in his pocket and felt a gun, why didn't the cop pull it out - why would he leave the gun in his pocket?

This doesn't make sense. It doesn't seem premeditated but it does seem very much that they assumed the guy deserved to die and had a desire to fire their weapons. Didn't seem like their interest was in arresting him and taking him to jail.

A gun only goes off when someone pulls the trigger.

I can always count on you to come in with something stupid in any thread. I mean literally any thread. Whether someone spelled something wrong or didn't phrase something perfectly or any other thing that 99.9% of people don't bother with. It's like clockwork.

I 'member that time on the Youhoo video where that gun went and fired in that guy's pocket. 'Member?

Has everyone seen the second video in full? Some of the links posted here were cut short by news outlets.

Does look more and more like, at the very least, the cop just freaked out and overreacted. After he rolled over Sterling, the camera panned away, he yells get on the ground, shots fired, camera pans back quickly, and Sterling is laying on the ground with blood on his chest. non shooting cop calls it in..then shooter yells "FCK" in frustration, and the non shooting cop comes over and takes something out of Sterlings pocket..if it was a gun, it was small.

What's interesting is the non shooting cop seemed calm, he quickly drew his gun, but only because the other said gun, but he still held his weapon in a calm manner...even when the shooter started screaming and shot, the other cop was not showing aggression...but were right there, but one seemed to feel like they were more in control then the other...also, he was said to have wounds to the chest and back, so it appears he got shot in the back as he tried to get up from the first shots. I dont think the cop should have felt directly threatened at that point, even his partner didnt react by shooting (i dont think)...so again, at the very least the shooter panicked and screwed up.

Was the gun registered? Did he have a permit to carry?

I honestly don't know the answer, but that could be one reason why.

He was a felon who didn't have a right to own or possess a firearm, he was facing 10-20 years hard labor if he had been arrested with one in his possession.

Okay, let's assume he keeps the safety off the gun even when it's in his pocket. Let's assume the barrel is aimed down towards his legs. If a bullet went off, he would then be firing at himself. If the barrel was aimed upwards, he'd then more likely shoot himself in the abdomen over any other person. Again though, something would have to pull the trigger in order for it to fire. The officers weren't in any danger even from a potential ricochet and it's not warranted to use deadly force like that when a gun isn't even being aimed at you. I mean he was pinned down. Resisting or not, I'd have been more content with them pistol whipping if he really was being a danger, but he was pinned down by 2 officers against a 2 ton car. If you're a cop that can't win with those odds in your favor and have to resort to using a firearm, then it's safe to say you're probably a really s-hit cop.

How would the cops know whether he did or not?
Since they did not know who he was upon arrival . . .then they could not have checked before hand

The talk of him having a permit or not is irrelevant bull**** distraction
Because the Cops had no way of knowing one way or the other if he had the right to the gun. They did not bother to even check

It's relevant when talking about why he might have resisted arrest. The guy was facing 10-20 years of hard labor for that handgun. As to the cops, they just wanted to get the guy in cuffs so they could check for a weapon because they were called there with reports of him threatening people with a gun. Someone who had been arrested as much as he had and spent as much time in prison as he had knew how it goes down, he knew to give the cops his hands and let them cuff him but just like the last time he was being arrested and looking at going to prison, he resisted arrest only this time it got him killed.

If he was some kid that didn't know better then it would be one thing, but this guy has likely been cuffed dozens of times minimum.

People trying to defend this, seriously? Killing a man, even if he had pulled the gun, would've been wrong. In this case it's clear murder. They are the sole cause of this shooting, by escalating the situation, not checking for the gun in a safer position etc. Police can defend themselves of course, but they should know where to aim. If it was because the cop was nervous or scared, ask your colleague to arrest him. Even if accidental and the cop confesses the man didn't do anything wrong, while sad, he should be put behind bars. You cannot just kill a man and get away with it, policeman or any other man.

But you can and have been doing it for quite a while. It's as much society allowance as it's police culture (or poor training if you want to be PC or whatever). Personal recording devices everywhere is just catching some of these in actions these days - but of course, it's still a very high bar to 'fault' and criminalize police activities. Just too much power concentrated on one side and an inherent conflict of interest when investigating, prosecuting and maybe even judging these actions.

I think they have to wait until a suspect removes the gun from their pocket, takes the safety off, and points it at a cop's head while pulling the trigger.

Yeah I think that is the law. You have to wait for them to shoot at you first, if you're a cop.

What I don't understand is why didn't the cops send in a plain clothes officer to pick pocket the gun from the suspect before trying to arrest him?

Why didn't they wait for SWAT to assemble a team and gas him out first?

Shouldn't TWO officers be able to more handily take down ONE man, of any size, on any drug, than these guys did? Are police not trained in at less some type of basic advanced wrestling or jujitsu or something? It didn't have to come to this.

Why was the gun being pointed at the suspect's vital organs, instead of the suspects foot or something. Or better yet in the air (warning shot).

It's amazing some of the BS you guys come up with to justify murder.

Why do people continue to resist arrest?
