That is wild. I find it interesting that there are some absolutely terrible police officers out there but that after some
horrible incident they're 'suspended with pay'. I believe much of police action is based on the notion that like teachers
it is nearly impossible to just be fired.

Having police, fire and teachers unions have allowed atrocious behavior and a union that defends the low quality standards
and makes it nearly impossible to fire people without a huge fight.

If they're bad cops they deserve to be fired. If they commit a crime they deserve to be prosecuted like any other criminal.

The culture needs to change in these union protected classes of employees so people are individually accountable for their
actions and not collectively protected like some mafia.

I love how you just lumped teachers into this and pretended like it was normal.

Not surprised you'd defend criminal and racist cops

You speak, yet you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about.

You realize I said I would be a terrible moderator, right? That said, I would certainly ban you for stupidity and inability to read fairly quickly if I had the option.

So you would ban me for the ability that you’re lacking? Maybe you should go back and read what I said before calling someone stupid. Maybe you will get that option and I won’t give two sh!ts.

I think that has something to do with due process. If a state employee is accused of a crime, the state won't take action against that person on an indictment but will wait for a conviction. If he is not convicted, he has the presumption of innocence. Honestly, it's not the best model. But I don't think it's the unions' doing.

Blue lives matter, until systems in place like unions are there to protect them, then the unions are the problem so get rid of them.

How about, instead of blaming unions, next time a victim of an unwarranted police attack speaks out you listen to the victim? Next time someone gets shot because of his race, and it's on tape, why don't you stop blindly defending the cops? Oh wait, no, it's the unions that are the problem here. They tell good cops to do bad things and then protect them.

It ain't the unions .Or at least it is a smaller factor than the overall low standards to become a law enforcement officer in the US.

There is empirical data that shows the more education an officer has (high school vs associate's vs bachelor's vs law/graduate) the less prone they are to using deadly force or be involved in corruption issues.

We have a low iq/broseph problem with law enforcement.

There are departments that do have high standards.

Increase pay and qualifications to become a cop.

I am a huge supporter of law enforcement, but seeing the times something like this happens hurts all law enforcement...
