Clear Lake? Damn, why does everything have to be there, or south of Cleark Lake? I'd like to play. I know how to play somewhat, I don't know all the rules though. count me out for now. but pencil me in as a maybe. I rather play basketball for tickets.
Yes, of course. There will be no smoking in the house, smokers will be relegated to the garage and the front yard during breaks. GriffinFan - You are welcome to bring your mother as well. It will be a family friendly affair. EDIT: If there is a beer chugging contest, it will have to be held outside and will be totally separate from the poker tourney. That being said, if you want to do the beer chugging contest BEFORE the poker tourney, be my guest.
Well, when someone in town decides to put on an event, there will be an event in town. You are welcome to play if you like, I will be handing out rules and directions when we do the buy in, but you can start getting used to how the game is played at www.partypoker.net, www.pokerstars.com, or www.ultimatebet.com. All of them have free games you can play.
you have a better chance of winning at cards.... think about it Kam, at least it isnt in Baytown....Clear Lake aint that far..
Yeah, and I am 3 exits further North than Behad, and just about the same distance off of the freeway so it will be a 4-5 minute shorter trip than the last BBS ball game.
I looked up prices on rockets.com and it seems that if we go with the cheapest seats, we can buy 2 seats in a full season for $792. This means that with a $20 buy in, only 40 people will need to play to buy an entire season (with $8 left over for refreshments). When I added up the interested parties, I got about 25, though a couple of other people have emailed me to see if more people are welcome, which they are, of course. With 82 tickets and paying out to the top 25%, that means that we would pay 10 places and I think that the payout would go something like this... 1st- 18 tickets + 2 preseason 2nd- 14 tickets + 1 preseason 3rd- 12 tickets + 1 preseason 4th- 10 tickets 5th- 8 tickets 6th- 6 tickets 7th- 5 tickets 8th- 4 tickets 9th- 3 tickets 10th- 2 tickets Any suggestions?
Looks good to me Andy. My only thought is... A 40 person tournament is going to be a huge undertaking. Lets just say 4 ten person tables. 40 chairs. 8 decks of cards. 1600 chips min. How big is your house Andy?!?
The only thing about your ticket breakdown is that I don't like only having one ticket per game. I'd rather you break it down by game getting 2 tickets per game instead. 1st: 9 games 2nd: 7 games etc. Even if you wanted to up the price to $30 and by a mini 12 game plan to add more tickects would be worth it. I just don't like the idea of going to a game by myself.
I'd also consider upping the buy-in and thus dropping the number of players. 40 is alot. Making it a $40 and only 20 people is alot more realistic.
I have 2 living rooms and a bedroom that can be emptied out along with the garage for the smokers. We will have to have some contributions of chips, cards, and dealer buttons, but Walgreens is selling Hold'em sets with 2 decks of cards, a dealer button, and 200 or 300 chips for $10 so that shouldn't be a big deal.
Actually, I wanted to break it down by ticket so that there are 2 tickets available to pick for the big games. That way, 4 people will be able to attend the San Antonio, Minnesota, and Sacramento games and 2 people will have an opportunity at the Miami and Orlando games. If you want to bring someone with you to the games, you can pick games that won't be in high demand and should be able to get both tickets for those games. I just don't think it would be fair to spots 3-6 if all the good games are gone because we are picking pairs.
Personally, the most I will be able to pull out of my budget is $20 or $25. I can't afford to buy video games (haven't bought one since 2001), so coming up with a $40 buy in would be rough. In addition, a $20 buy in will open it up so that more people will be able to afford to play. We can also adjust the season ticket package we get based on the number of players we get as well as the buy-in. If, at $20, we only get 25 players, we can get a 12 game package and add as many games as we can afford or we can consider upgrading the seats.
The current plan is to hold the game October 16th, but buy-ins will need to be finished by the first week of October so that we can purchase the season tickets in time to have them at the game. We will need to acquire those tickets ASAP so that we can get the 2 home preseason games that are after the 16th.
I'll be in if I'm available. Putme at 80%. And I'm shoe in money. Seriously, I suck. We were playing BlackJack in Lake Charles one winter, and I was in my long black coat. I sucked so badly, one of my friends says "Hey Neo! Morpheus called! He wants you to download a Fu**ing Blackjack program now!" it was funny at the time.
Here is twist we could add to if you want. We add this to our weekly game sometimes. Everyone buys in for the 20 which goes toward the tickets. Everyone also brings an extra five for the knock out bonus which is put in the knock out pot. If/when you knock someone out of the game you draw 5 bucks from the knock out pot. With 40 players if you knock a couple people out but still don't finish in the money (tickets) you can lessen your lost or maybe break even. I know money is tight for a lot of folks (me included) but ususally an extra five spot won't break anyone and this twist adds another dimension to the game. You are driving this ship Andy so it's your call, just a suggestion. I'm looking forward to playing and I have chips for a table's worth.
I am perfectly OK with that. AB-You are welcome to invite anyone you like. We can start buying in anytime. If you want to reserve your spot, just make arrangements with me. Buy in will be $20 with $5 for the knock out pool.
andy, Sent you an e-mail. One of my friends and I would like to get in on the game if possible. thanks.
