Alright, I will admit I didn't jump into this full on at first. But after seeing a lot of my friends playing it hardcore and a lot of people talking about it, I put in some effort on the game. My goodness is this game addicting! I'm not good by any means, but it's still exciting to grow these things! Not sure if this is better than the gameboy version I grew up with, but man is it close!
can already see sports teams paying big $$ for unique pokemon that can only be found in the arena for certain game nights
Did TAMU do this recently at Kyle Field? It sounded like they used a unique character to get people in, but maybe it wasn't a unique character. I have no idea which ones are unique and which aren't, but they advertised a specific one they claimed was the 12man or something stupid. I'm sure y'all loved it.
The business right next to my office is a pokestop...funny thing is that it's a candy shop that went out of business like 6 months ago. Would have been nice for the candy shop to have Pokemon released earlier.
My buddy owns dinner bell cafeteria in south Houston. They have a pokestop located there. He keeps putting lure models on the stop to attract people to his business. He said it has brought him a few new customers, but mainly all he gets is kids sitting in their cars in the parking lot.
Interesting post I saw on fb regarding how the creator of Pokemon GO has been building to this moment for 20 years...
How many miles of walking is everyone starting to average since playing this game. I was always on about 2.5 miles a day and since I started playing I'm at about 9 miles a day now. I don't take lunch breaks at work, typically just eat while working. Now I get up and walk outside for about 45 minutes and I really enjoy it. It helps that I'm in downtown and Discovery Green is right next to my office.
How the hell do some people have a dragonite? I caught like one dratini, that's it. I really wish battling leveled up your pokemon instead of these candies.
I'm hoping in the future you can do live battles and earn candy or coins or both. I feel like I'm so far behind, it will be hard to catch up, and seems like there aren't any "low level" gyms so that I can get in on that. I'm about to hit level 9 and get my first lucky egg, so I'm saving some evolutions just for that (probably around 7 or so, if not more). I'm going to try to save it for when I have a couple of eggs near hatching, and be near a couple of pokestops that over lap, while using an incense. Hopeful that all those things combined will help me to jump at least two levels and end up with some stronger pokemon.
There are new gyms popping up everyday. The other day, on my daily route I saw an unclaimed gym and hopped on it. We still control it today (which is nice). Also! Catch like 250 pidgedys. Then trade a bunch of them in (not all of them), then enable the lucky egg. Then evolve a **** ton of pidgeys. Each pidgey you evolve will net you 1000 exp with lucky egg. You will jump 3/4 levels from one 30 minute session. It's insane.
fwiw: John Hanke is from Cross Plains, TX. Tiny little town in the middle of big country, southeast of Abilene. I know this only because a college buddy is from Cross Plains and posted it a few days ago. Texas Pride!
How are you guys able to play so much with the battery drain? The one knock is that it's a battery killer.
