no point in trading Lin when we aren't going to get better. and that's probably what the Rockets will say at the trading tables. the Rockets organization sees Lin as a cash cow for the NBA market in China, and other franchises who don't respect that or aren't willing to give away a big piece for it do not deserve to trade with Rockets. D12 and other free agent acquires might alleviate Lin's market contribution, but it still cannot eclipse the amount of market value Lin has. Besides the financials, Lin's ceiling is still much higher than what others think, and we haven't even started to discuss how underrated he is. he works very hard -- probably has one of the best work ethics in a PG in the league. the dude is forced to play as a spot-up shooter and his assisting/one-step scoring capabilities are not fully utilized in McHale's system. keeping him away from the market damages his career, but we don't want him out there scoring 30 points against us unless we get a PG who can do the same. frankly, with McHale's system, it's going to be hard to find a PG who can do what Lin does.
If Lin is around this season and doesnt get traded, I really think his 3pt % is going to determine whether he stays the third year of his poison pill in Houston. Everything else in his skill set is going to be fine, and he had a horrible first half because he pretty much down played a much serious injury. Him dishing with Dwight will be damn good. Asik drops 2-3 assists every game from Lin....literally. TOs and 3 pt% i feel will be a the determining factor. I feel like assist rate will go up with dwight in the lineup.
All true, but it sounds like the Rockets feel like they can at worst make a lateral move and save enough $$$ to upgrade elsewhere. Belief in Beverley helps. Clutch said today that Daryl was super upbeat after drafting Canaan. Read into that what you will.
Pretty much everybody on that list is an upgrade over Ermy, but I'd really like to see Lowry back. He's the most logical option at this point
The amount of disrespect that Lin gets is incredible. I thought he was a Rocket? Some guys in here believe Monta Ellis or Brandon Jennings are better PGs than Lin... wow. As for Jack, they are indeed comparable players, it's not a foregone conclusion that Jack is the better player. That notion is absurd, if anything Lin is arguably the better player, but the difference at this stage is not readily apparent and marginal. Jack is a known quantity and he's older. For his career he has been a back up PG, and he plays with Stephen Curry which is an entirely different animal to Harden. Despite playing with offensive all-stars the guy has a propensity for selfish boneheaded plays i.e. taking ridiculous ISOs during 'offensive breakdowns' which were the result of none other than himself. Ask GSW fans and I'm sure there would not be a bunch of them declaring that Jack is so much better than Lin. Fckn ridiculous. Incredible how people treat Lin like **** on this board when he's a Rocket who has done nothing to warrant this disrespect. Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis are better PGs than Lin? Wow. Just wow.
They are better shooters, that's probably what the Rockets want. But both are more expensive than Lin, I may say.
Lol these LOHs are dillusional. Jeremy can put out 30/10 against the Spurs and OKC playing solid defense against WB yet people think Beverly is better lolzz.... I think the sun must be sizzling these Rocket fans because they're blinded by their own dillusion. When Beverly starts putting out 25/12 against top teams then come back and talk about it.
They're both incredibly deluded with the BBIQ of a Javale McGee or Josh Smith, except without the athletic freak talent. Let's not forget how much better GSW have become ever since shedding one of their favourite sons, and Mark Jackson wasn't too shy in acknowledging the point of one of their offensive improvements was addition by subtraction of a certain somebody. Ellis is already a distant memory. Ask Bucks fans what they think of the swag brothers backcourt. I'll wait. Apparently there are a bunch of idiotic Rockets fans who are too happy to throw one of their own players under the bus in believing that these two boneheads are better prospects. Please.
The Warriors are reportedly going to offer Jack over $7mil per season, so that's not really an option. We need bargain at the position, and Jack will be making what he's worth. As much as Harden dominates the ball, we need someone capable of playing off of it while he shares the court. At the same time, we do need someone capable of managing the offense while Harden sits. Should only have to play 20-25 minutes per game, as Beverly will still get a good chunk of minutes. I'm going with the assumption that most of our cap will be tied up in a big 3 like Harden/Howard/Smith, so a low contract is a must. Beno Udrih fits the bill perfectly. He's not going to wow anyone, but we don't need him to. He can run the offense when needed to, play off Harden. Shoots effeciently, etc. Billups is another to consider. Mo Williams/Nate Robinson if they are looking for someone with more fire-power. Not a fan of theirs personally, but they can score in spurts. Calderon would be great as long as he doesn't want too much money. Lowry would be nice as well, but I'm not sure how long he would be happy being the 5th or 6th scoring option.
