I hadn't heard that, but if so they basically chose White over Zeller. I don't get the White love affair personally. I have no idea what role he'll play generally, but specifically on this team??

Also, we just chose a high risk huh reward guy last year.

I'm just going to tell myself that Dallas would've taken White, because under your scenario, I am pissed off. Zeller is very likely going to be a 14 ppg, 8 rpg center, good team defender, good jumper... legit seven footer. Prob make an allstar team or two. So I'm just going to pretend White would be gone at 18. I am very intrigued by White... trying to remain positive...

It's pronounced Mah-cha-dough. That's what I got from it, anyway.

Oh he's going to be like that? Someone like let's say Al Horford who went top 5. it's amazing that Zeller didn't go much much earlier if he's going to average all that and appear in a few AS games.

    1. There was reliable intel that Dallas would have picked White at 17 had the Rockets not have. Their stealing Zeller was unexpected, since they didn't want him for themselves (he was traded to Cleveland).

    2. I find the bolded quote to be funny and sadly quite true - being a "fan" might mean irrationality, the urge to curse, criticize and look for short term satisfaction, but if that's the case, I only want to be a "fan" during a basketball game. Outside of it, there'e no way I'll ever stop trying to use logic and common sense to understand what's going on.

Morey's moves so far have not been impeccable, but as Clutch and Bima analyzed, it's hard not to be impressed by the long term flexibility and possibilities that his moves set up. In the end, there are about 20 teams in this league who are trying to become contenders. You need to have an edge - I think we do in the form of a superior front office.

Bima -- Curious as to your thoughts on the 2 guard situation if a Howard deal happened. If we have to renounce rights to Lee, you have Martin and Lamb left at the 2.

However, I'd think both of those guys would be gone in a deal for Howard. Mix in Lee and Howard's friendship and I'd imagine the Rockets would not go that route if Howard entered the field of play. I think it'd cause a domino of tough decisions to be made.

I don't think there's legit evidence that we want to pick Zeller around #18. There's a radio interview where Morey was asked if the Mav-Cav trade screwed up his plan a little. And Morey said "maybe".

Those who are high on Zeller sure think it's a indirect confirmation of his intention to pick Zeller around #18. But Morey could just be reluctant to reveal much of his player evaluation. He's unlikely to say 'yes' or 'no' in that circumstance no matter what the real intention is.

IMO we got a steal at #18, and Terrance Jones is top10 on Hollinger's draft rater and basketball prospectus ranking. On NBATV post-draft discussion, one of the analysts said he could very well be averaging 24pts and 12 rebs on another average team.

I still haven't seen any proof he sent anything to hoopshype. I follow Scola on twitter and he sent nothing publicly to them(I checked when that thread was made) and it seems a little unlikely that Luis has the hoopshype guys phone number to text him(which is what the story claimed he did, not twitter)

I think hoopshype got ahold of the agent's statement from the interview he did and ran with it.

It never fails to amaze me how some of you guys will believe any random internet story that starts with "a source closer to...."

The thought of taking Zeller over White makes me sick.

Thank god we have Daryl Morey making decisions and not you flunkies...

Do you have any links that support the White to Dallas intel? Not to derail this awesome thread, but this is the first time I have seen this posted.

    Here you go, DD!

Another quote from Mark Cuban which I interpret to him stating without stating that the Rox stole the guy they wanted - White:

    Taking White at 16,
inspired Dallas to trade out of 17,
which cost us Zeller at 18.
