My ears perked up when I heard this. If true, when we're in the playoffs when the pace typically slows, we'll get even more value out of Asiks, whose minutes will probably not be as limited.
i'm deaf. i listen to the whole thing, i hear a ton of Asik stuff and some of it i even re-listened but i missed the halfcourt defense bit. which minute is it? interested to hear the exact statement.
In Landry's case his agent argued over the sum. Parsons was a bit different the Rockets wanted him to sign overseas or were waiting on other players to be traded. McHale and Parsons have said similiar things about that situation, ie McHale told him "to stick around" and they'll eventually find him a spot on the roster.
That's what a top defensive centre will do for you and the reason I will always choose Asik 1# overall in a draft of current rockets players. Whenever there is a dominant big man available, you choose him first, it's a no brainer.
Asik was already a defensive beast in Europe before he came to the Bulls. see King of Blocks video on YT.
Morey looked very nervous in the interview but relaxed later on. I think he was afraid Zach was going to ask a loaded question or something but loosened up when Zach started to segue into non basketball stuff.
Great interview. On a side note, does Morey remind anyone else of the Governor from The Walking Dead? Or is it just me?
DM: "After trading Lowry, I was saying this [was] going to be a hard year" Lowe: "Pre-Harden.." DM: "Pre-Harden, Pre-Omer, Pre-Jeremy..."
He also said that was from a couple weeks ago, and our defense has slipped a lot since then. Plus, we're not in a half-court situation very often. I think the Rockets define "transition" more liberally than you may think. Its not just fast break, but also early offense more generally.
