you guys have it all wrong, we would be playing shaq at shooting guard, remember this. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JZnZEDY7AM8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JZnZEDY7AM8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Actually Shaq and Yao can play together vs some teams, the Lakers starting front court and the Spurs for examples.
I can see Shaq telling Shane & Ron to play up tight on Kobe so he could drive past them into the lane so Shaq could stuff him. Shaq & Yao playing limited mintues to extend their season & careers would work. They would take care of the big front court teams & we would still have the team that took the Lakers to 7 games in the playoffs for the rest! If they were on the court together, Shaq could play center & Yao could work on his 3pt shot at the 4.
I wouldnt do it, because that would make us the slowest team in the league, plus it will also minimize everyone else's production. When Yao is in the game (and teams are not fronting ofcourse), we look to go to Yao on almost every posession unless he cant get position. No matter who is on the court, your number one option is always Yao. But once Yao sits down, we speed the tempo up a bit and we play Adelman offense where everyone touches the ball on almost every possession. Thats where we see the skills that other guys possess, guys like Scola, AB, Wafer, Artest etc. This is why we were so successful this year. As soon as teams adjusted to our postup offense, we took Yao out and gave them a different look. IF we make this trade, once Yao goes out, Shaq comes in and then he will demand the ball in the post. We will be too predictable.
I say HELL TO THE YES. He's gotta know going in though, that Yao is still THE man on this team. If this gets done, Ron resigns. OMFG I want this done!
If we could have both of them playing at the same time this fix would our double team problem with Yao. All we would have to do is lob it to Shaq for the easy dunk. Then we can establish Yao and he start fading away and pull out his shanghai shake and sky hooks. Yao is unstoppable if he's allowed to go one on one.
If Shaq could play like he did last season he would be an exciting addition to the Rockets -- the thought of Yao and Shaq playing at the same time is very interesting.
In fact, I think Yao and Howard can fit each other very well. Is there any chance that we can get Howard?
Both Yao and Shaq would feed from each others game. If Shaq wants to win a championship before He retires then playing along Yao and the Rockets could offer him that.
Picture this lineup: Brooks/Lowry Artest/Wafer Battier/Barry Shaq/Scola/Landry/Hayes Yao/Shaq/Dorsey/Hayes The twin towers... or maybe Yao at PF... But seriously could we start both of them, one at PF and other at C and be successful?, because neither deserves to come off the bench.
More like Twin Behemoths. Shaq and Yao in the line-up at the same time? Talk about clogging the lane, holy crap.
the only way i can see it working is shaq starts at center and yao at pf kinda the original twin towers. but if we do that we would have the slowest frontcourt in the nba. lineup and rotation would look like: ab/lowry artest/wafer/ab battier/artest/white shaq/scola/landry yao/shaq/hayes i still think Amare would the better choice but shaq would be a nice second.
This would go through if its about Les wanting to bring in a big marquee name as money making move. I'd only do it if it allows them to overspend to get additional needs.
