I was putting decking in my attic and a nail went crooked and poked a hole in my copper hot water line coming from my water heater supplying the house. I was wondering if anyone has ever fixed this same prob? I don't really want to hire a plumber to come cut it and fix it.....I guess that is what they would do. I tried putting this putty stuff rated for plumbing fixing for holes and leaks, but there is still a slight leak. I am think about putting JB weld ,whick I think is a little stronger or maybe buying on of those torches w/ flux and trying to put that directly on the hole. Can I do that ? all help is appreciated......
pay someone. Unless you have a pipecutter, some copper pipe, a blow torch and some solder, and know how to use them.
I'm no expert but I think even a plumber would just sodder that right up. Pretty easy to do. just go to home supply store and ask them for it. You may have to buy the torch but the cheap one is only like $20 I think plus small propane bottle.
