    Yao,
I am so happy that you have chosen to persue your NBA career with the Houston Rockets. We are an organization dedicated to making the team concept a reality, and also importantly, winning. I encourage you to be patient, and to not let the media get to you. If you work hard and stay true to yourself, you will be successful. Remeber, half of these sports writers have no idea what it takes to succeed professionally on a basketball court. Hard work garontees success and I know you are dedicated to doing that. We Houstonians welcome you with open arms, and hope you will enjoy our city. It truely is the friendliest city in America. Welcome.

    Welcome Ming!

We here in Houston have always had a habit of thinking of
the players on our sports teams as members of our family, and
we always want to be proud of them and see them do well.
That way, we feel such joy both for the players and for ourselves
when one of our teams wins a Championship. It means our
team is the Best, and therefore we get to feel like we are also
    the Best.

The only times we have had these wonderful feelings in
Houston have been with our basketball teams - the biggest
being the Rockets, and also the womens' team, the Comets.
No other sport in our city has given us that gift. When the
Rockets won our two NBA Championships back-to-back, you
could feel the joy and love for that team from our city for a long
time. We want that feeling again, and we can sense it on the
horizon again, coming up in a few years.

Because of the things you have said, your attitude, your
desire to improve, and to truly be the best, I believe it is very
unlikely that we will ever be disappointed in you. What I worry
about is that you may become disappointed in us. I promise you
will be truly amazed at some of the things you will hear us say
and see us do. We can't help it. Unfortunately, the voices of the
ignorant few can sometimes drown out the voices of the wise,
supportive majority. Please have patience with us, because it
will take us just as long to get to know and understand you as
it will take you to get to know and understand us. But always
remember, we want you to feel like family, and we want you to
    do well.

I for one can't wait to see you in our unifom for the first time!
Very soon, the 'Good Times WILL Roll!' :)

I have sent the link of this thread to Professor John Huizinga, who is Yao ming's NBA agent. I also sent the email to Su Qun. But my email was returned. I need to recheck the email address of him. Fortunately, the newcomer zuoluohero said he had already emailed to Su Qun.

I have read all the responses in this thread. You guys did a very good job. I can see the warmth and maturity of the Rockets fans. Please keep posting.

Actually I have tried to register there twice but with no luck - (few sites are as hospitable as CC.net );)

It seems that for some reason they failed to validate my identity to grant me access (yes, they do check the identity!!). Maybe I need to register a 163.com or sina.com email address first and use it to register again.

Welcome to America and welcome to Texas which is like America in that it is "a whole nother country!" You are coming to the best city in the best state. Lucky you!
Listen to your inner self that tells you are special, that your critics are fools, that no one is an instant success, that you will severely tested and challenged, that you will experience some disappointments and failure, that, in the end, you will be a great basketball player. Your mind is your greatest asset; think your way to success. Ultimately, you are unstopable!

    Ming Yao,

All praise be to Lord Naismith for determining your fate as a Houston Rocket. May he bless you with a move that resembles the Dream shake...maybe a up and under move termed the "chinese massage" perhaps. May he grant you strong eyes so that you will not be blinded by Calvin Murphys suits. But most of all, may our father Naismith, bless you with the necessary energy and will to fulfill your dreams. Amen.

    Hey Yao,
Welcome man. If you ever want some kick ass Chinese food, check out King Bo on 59 and Gessner. I've been going there for over 20 years. They have a great buffet also, with the exception of the freaking Mexican food on it (what is that all about?)

    Hey Yao,
Im sure the prostitutes here aren't like the one's over there. But you will get laid, somehow, someway. Might want to take a look at midgets. That would be quite a match.

    Hi, Yao Ming:
You are more famous than the China's president in the U.S. because the average people don't care about the president of the other countries but care about you, a best players in the near future (next season? hope so). All Chineses, Chinese-Americans, Asian-Americans are proud of you (Hope this are not a pressure to you. You don't need to think it when you play the game. Just play the game as before the #1 pick.)
However, you have to learn English from now as the communication is basic but essential (there's report you don't have time to learn right away, try to find time).

    Hi, windandsea:
How about you pick some good letters here, translate into Chinese, publish in the Chinese Newspaper so that the Chinese will know majority of American people love Yao so much?

Your post in Chinese has some characters not displayed well and cannot read. I had the same problem before and then I found a way around it - make every line shorter than the text box can hold and check again.
