hmm. A 12 year old car that needs $1200+ dollars of work and is only worth $500 dollars? Where do I sign up?
From looking it up, the 2004 Odyssey actually weighs about 100 lbs. less and gets very slightly better gas mileage. I think any difference has to do with how you guys drive, what you put in your vehicles, etc.
I like the way he pisses all over it when he wants to basically set the thing on fire, but when it comes time to sell, it's a great little car.
Give it to charity dude, they have mechanics at certain places that can fix the car for a much lower cost and give it to someone who needs it.
I have a Toyota Sienna XLE 2004 .. Best Van I have ever had. I've test drove Honda's Minivan, Nissan Quest, Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Caravan and Grand ( and sport ) Old Chevrolet Astro Van ( dont ask ) Sienna XLE love it.
I pity the day, that my two car options are a camry and and mini-van. I'll say a prayer for you and myself. Ever look into a Honda Pilot?
When you're married and you think to yourself, "Would I rather have myself drive the POS that may leave me stranded by the freeway, or would I rather have my wife and kid drive the POS that would leave them stranded on the freeway?" the answer becomes pretty clear. LOL! Well, the problems with the damn thing have always been alternator, battery, clutch, gear, thermostat, coolant, etc. The alternator in particular has been a recurring nightmare.
Soooo. How many people still yell at you "How do you like you new Saturn!?" I do it everytime I see one.
Maybe. We live in the same area and work in the same area so I would assume the same type driving. Actually now that I think of it, I've followed him before for a couple hours on trip and he drives slow (65-70). It about drove me crazy. I am impressed that even at 80-85 the rpms are right at 2000. My Lexus is almost touching 3000 at those speeds.
Moe: Uh, excuse me, officer. (Leading Chief Wiggum to the side of the boat) You see my car there? With the rubber hippy daisy? Space 7A? Chief Wiggum: Uh, yeah, what about it? Moe: Uh, I was just thinking what a good parking job I did with it. Chief Wiggum: Oh yeah! Hey, that is nice! Hey, Lou! Lou, check out that park job in 7A! Lou: W'hoo-hoo.. that's sweet. (later) Chief Wiggum: Hey Moe! Isn't that your car up there, with the rubber hippy daisy? The one that was parked in 7A? (Moe's car is coasting down a sloped cliff in the near distance.) Moe: Hey!! (Begins acting) Hey, what's it doing there? It was supposed to be on the railroad tracks.. (slaps forehead) no, I mean.. the parking lot.
Actually, thats not a bad idea. You can write off of the full retail value of the car for tax purposes. My guess would be that the savings in taxes would probably be more than the $550 you can get in wholesale and/or salvage value.
droxford - I used to drive a Saturn of similar vintage. It ran through alternators, batteries, belts, and tires at a frightening speed. Stupid little piece of plastic. It was my first new car, though, so I didn't know the difference. I like the idea of donating it... you may get more back, and as for the other idea, it didn't work for Homer and Moe...
