It's the reason why some were upset with the Ariza signing. If he wouldn't have been signed, the club would have about 13 million instead.

    1. we wont even have that much money, not even half.
    2. Morey would never trade tmac for crap, he's already said he's not going to make a trade just for the hell of it.
    3. THREAD FAILED.

I realize there's a lot to be said for "aiming high" and "not knowing unless you try," but when you factor in everything -- the money, what other teams can offer, and so on -- there's very little chance of any of these guys landing in Houston. Bosh seems most likely of the bunch, and I'm not convinced he makes the team a championship contender, especially when you consider what we already have at PF. Then when you consider what the team would have to give up in terms of talent to pay the new star's salary, I think waiting until this summer and making a run at these guys might be foolish. The Rockets' best bet is to land very good players with high ceilings -- players who might develop into stars. That's different from picking up more "role players." Give me a team chock full of very good players, some of whom have a lot of potential to grow into great players, who play well together, over a team of one or two superstars and a mediocre supporting cast any day.

We can always give up the rights to Lowry and Scola, wouldn't that give us near max cap space without their cap hold?

Another thing to consider: Isn't the MLE only available to teams OVER the salary cap?

So if we just let McGrady expire, were under the cap and resigned our own free agents, we'd actually have LESS (than the MLE) to spend on outside free agents.

If we trade McGrade and get at least one player (probably in the 8-12 million range) and are over the cap, we will still have the MLE available...

Let T-Mac Expire. Sign Ray Allen for 3 years, 36 million. If not Mike Miller for 3 years, 31 million.

    Yao/Hayes/Andersen
    Scola/Landry/Dorsey
    Ariza/Battier
    Allen/Buddinger/Taylor
Brooks/Lowry/Alston vet min in case of injury

What do you guys think about Outlaw?

I agree. I think the chances of McGrady staying put for another 15 days is near zero.

Morey has a chance to land the pieces that could make this team whole, especially at the center position. Waiting for Bosh, Wade, Lebron, etc... is fool's gold. You may see, you may touch, but you ain't getting it.

Nope, the seven million does not include the money used to resign them. Since we have bird rights for both of those players we can go over the cap to sign (if Les chooses to shell out the dough) but we cannot go over the cap to sign a free agent.

The chinese market is way over-rated. I take it that you guys havn't been to china recently. The Chinese government has the ultimate media control and most people don't know much about the NBA except Yao. I can't even log on to NBA.com and many other sports sites(without shifting my IP around) while I was there due to the media restrictions. And even when you do get on, it is extremely slow. People think that Tracy Mcgrady got voted in the All-star ballot because of his huge chinese fan base. That is also over-rated. You can't vote from China without knowing quite a bit about the internet.

Yes, you will get more exposure and some commercial deals, but that's about it. It is nothing compaerd to what the American market has to offer. Why do you think Yao and all other Chinese players want to play in the NBA in the first place?

    I agree!!

T-mac can expire and Yao can opt out of his last year!

Trade Battier, Dorsey, Cook, JT, Conroy, 1st and 2d round picks for BOSH.

    Sign BOSH and LeBron

convince D-wade to play with Lebron and LOOK at the Lineup!!!

    AB
    Wade
    LeBron
    Bosh
    Hayes.
    :) :p
