Yeah, rmvb, second to avi, is the most popular media format in china

William Hung is famous in china, but not popular. Most people have heard of him, downloaded his dancing and singing clip, watched it and quickly deleted it, because watching a yellow-skinned asian man playing a fool in front of white and black people is not something to enjoy and to remember.

He is a "forgotten guy", people know him, but don't talk about him, hehe.

My friend said William Hung is one of the most hated figures on the Chinese bbs. Is it true?

He kind of was hated, and labeled as a shame, until we have had our own china mainland's William Hung. But that's a different story, too long to say in words.

After our own William Hung became extremely popular, being laughed at and being dramatized at the same time, me and my friends soon realized that how bored most of us are, and how eager we want to have fun, maybe americans are bored too.

Why? Isn't Mariah Carey one of the greatest voices in human history?

A girl who loves singing wants to learn techniques face to face from the lady who can sing best, I can't see anything wrong with that.

You can definitely hear her accent on "What's Up". I have a feeling she kind of memorized "Vision of Love" since Mariah Carey is supposed to be her idol.

Pretty good voice, but nothing spectacular. But she's cute, so I'm sure she could be marketed into a pop machine in the ilk of Shakira. (post old good Shakira)

    ;)

Simmon: "You have a good voice, but because of the fact that your idol is Mariah Carey, your voice makes no sense.

Ok, she got a good voice, but voice is not the really thing that decide her future, it's about opportunity, and the actually the sound of the music.

LOL, well Mariah would thank you for that statement! Look, she does have a great voice but I think calling her one of the greatest voices in human history is slight hyperbole there, especially when you consider all of the professional opera singers out there.

I guess there really isn't anything wrong with Jane idolizing Mariah, but do realize that Mariah Carey is a very polarizing figure who has had as many failures and embarrassments as she has with successes and triumphs.

However, does it really matter about her voice? bob - to become a successful pop star (I am assuming that is what Jane wants to do) in this country, you have to

    1) Look good
    2) Be deemed marketable by the record companies
    3) Look good

Oh and did I say "look good"? :D

I think Jane has the look good part down - it is just a matter of record companies feeling that there is a need for an Asian pop star, so to speak. Sadly, that idiot William Hung has not helped her cause or anyone else from Southeast Asia that wants to be taken seriously.

Now you might be asking why I am not considering voice to be that important. Google "Ashlee Simpson" and you will understand! :D

Why is everybody (especially those in China) so looking down on William Hung? Is he a devil, a monster? Did he do anything jeopardizing your life, career, or self-esteem? What has he done that you need to feel ashamed of?

It is one thing to be the punchline to a joke and not realize it compared to WANTING to be the punchline of a joke. It sorta reminds me of the YoYao "phenomena" around here a couple of years ago. It was funny in the beginning but got old real fast.

I must disagree with your assertion Manny. Mariah is the biggest selling female artist of all time. I think she holds the record in Guinness book for having the greatest range. She also hold record for singing the highest note ever for a human. In terms of a pure voice she has very few equals in the world. I think I remember some magazine was ranking voices and she was ranked #1. She is also an accomplished song writer and producer. Despite some of the problems she has had, she is one of if not the greatest singers and artists in the world in terms of accomplishment.

biggest selling doesnt necessarily make you the greatest.

Mariah is decent..has a fairly nice voice and a bod that makes me say "wanna touch the hiney!!"...but the greatest female singer of all time...hardly.

Aretha could teach that girl what real singing is all about.
