Go for that krazy glue. But keep the elmer's glue just incase. I don't think that guy you gave the ticket to likes Butterfingers anyway. Word is it hasn't been opened in 7 years, so no question that is very stale and rotten. Don't take it under any circumstances, even if its free.

If I were you I'd see if I can give away that ball holder and some random junk in exchange for that krazy glue.

Glue is made from dead horses. What we need is a young thoroughbred.

Funny thread. Still, apparently your raffle ticket won the guy a disco ball. It's really flashy, but it's not good for much.

    Well, I disagree here...
Try to sign a quality backup for Yao. And by "quality backup", I mean Emeka Okafor. IF Charlotte doesn't match him (which would happen if he wants to come home), he'd be exactly what this team needs.
I know he's disappointed. I KNOW. Injury concerns aren't so huge when he only has to play 20 minutes a night behind Yao. And he patterns his game off of Olajuwon, so he'd be able to improve DRASTICALLY by working with CD.
Of course, he DID turn down a long-term extension because he thinks he's worth max money. So I have to highly doubt the Rockets will get him unless it's part of a sign-and-trade with Charlotte.
Another possibility is Josh Smith, but with the Hawks in the playoffs, I think there's no way they let him go. And they'd have to be crazy to sign Jermaine O'Neal.

But Ron Artest? I don't think he solves any problems unless other moves are made, moves which the Rockets either don't have the money or the trade bait to capitalize on. Assuming Deke retires (pretty good assumption), the Rockets still have no backup 5 save Loren Woods. And with the guard glut of the Rockets, I think signing Ron Ron would be a mistake.
Next season's depth chart (with no trades)

1: Rafer Alston, Bobby Jackson, Aaron Brooks
2: Tracy McGrady, Luther Head, Steve Francis
3: Shane Battier, Steve Novak, Mike Harris (assuming the team brings him back)
4: Luis Scola, Carl Landry (assuming he re-signs), Chuck Hayes
5: Yao Ming, Loren Woods, Jackie Butler?

Ron Artest would DEFINITELY help with wing defense. But the glaring hole, as I stated earlier, is the 5 slot. Without a quality backup to give Yao a break, he will almost certainly fall to injury yet again. And that means another year of first-round futility. Drafting a center doesn't really help either. Centers take time to develop. And with only one year left for T-Mac, the Rockets don't have that time.

Goddammit!! it disappointed me yet again....

I really needed it tonight but it let me down. A couple of times that I did manage to squeeze on my Elmer's, it mostly shot blanks.

    Is it a lemon?

I'm confused. Is this thread some sort of sex analogy?

    creative, but dumb nonetheless...

I envy that you had so much time on your hands...

I'll take effort over talent anyday...

    See Eli Porter.

All I see are failed projects. I am not sure how long I can hang on to my job with effort alone. Boss says I need results.

I will give him a break because he was playing injured (of course, TMac is playing hurt too, so was Alston and Landry). But there is no question that the trade was a 'loser' in terms of talent traded away. Battier is an important clog to a winning team alas Bruce Bowen, but absent a legit third option on a team (Alston ain't it, I don't care how good he occasionally plays) then a guy like Rudy Gay is much, much more valuable.

Anyways, the past is the past, but let's just jog that trade down as a loser (I know it was previously agreed upon, blah blah blah), whatever the circumstances may have been. It's not a reflection on Battier, it's a reflection on what was given up in exchange for Battier.

    by your logic...

Fire Adelman, regret JVG's hiring, and drafting Akeem.

Do a sign and trade for Carl Landry ASAP...(seeing as no results were posted)

Take that pest Scola and his "effort" and trade him back to Argentina for Maradona or other various narcotics. Hell, let's give DaDakota a hard-on for a couple of minutes and resign V-Span.

    Cut Yao Ming.

Take back the money Les Alexander donated to help the Congoians/Zairians.

Trade Rodrick Rhodes 30 seconds after we drafted him in the first round.(The two steals on MJ in the 4th quarter were worth it though huh?)

    Kept Zan Tabak.

Hire Tanya Harding's boyfriend to metal pipe T-Mac's back.

    WOW. just WOW.

I remember once hearing a kid saying something like...

"I don't care what you say, If we would have never traded away Robert Horry or Cassell, they would have been helping Francis and Mobley in the early part of there careers..."

    I didn't even try.

    Big Picture.

    excuse the "there" dudes.

demoted to Rookie for obvious reasons.

I do see where your coming from Zboy, and to tell you the truth I loved the "effort" behind your post, but please understand you can't blame that deal for our current situation(by current I mean May 3rd, 2008). It doesn't work that way.

What if you buy the Krazy Glue AND keep the Elmer's.

Sorry about the bump, but this was one of my favorite threads of the year, and is pretty applicable today.

Now that you got to keep your elmer's, you could use both at the same time. That should really hold everything together.

Yup. I'd like to take this time to own what I said up there. I'm still worried.
But the thing is that the Rockets didn't give up ANYTHING (well...). There's so little risk! I'm gonna go on the record saying I'm feeling optimistic about this trade.

    Minor trade my a--.

    Excellent thinking m_cable.

So I drove to California to look at the product. Told my wife I got some minor stuff to take care of. I like to keep my transactions low key. That's how I roll.

When I got there, Krazy glue was living up to its name. While talking to the owner, sometime I would see it on the shelf, while other times it would just disappear. Tired of its Houdini act, the Californian decided to let me have it for the gum I had been chewing all day. I felt I was ripping the guy off so I threw in a nickel so that I could sleep at night.

Drove back with the Krazy with a big grin on my face.

And damn right I am not getting rid of my Elmer's now! I can finally use my Elmer's the way it is meant to be used. Not gonna put too much load on it. Not gonna ask it to do more than it is capable of. Also it's a great insurance policy in case Krazy goes crazy on me.
