I'll treat him like I treat any other player for another team. Maybe a nice round of applause. But the first time he flies into the lane out of control and turns the ball over, he will not hear the end of it. Should be fun. I'm a Rockets fan, not a "franchise" fan. I liked Cat more than SF anyways.
Francis didn't want to be a millionaire in Vancouver, where he was drafted, does that mean he doesn't have heart? For the record, Vancouver is a beautiful city. What about someone who would rather go to the Super Bowl than be with their team? Does that mean he has no heart?
He deserves a standing O, period..I wish I was at the game as I'd be the loudest person there...Remember, he didn't ask to be traded...
Booing Steve Francis would be pathetic ... The guy gave everything he had to the Rockets and he wanted to be a Rocket-For-Life. He deserves our respect. I understand why same may choose not to cheer for him (as I would), but there definitely is no reason to boo.
As much ridicule he received from the Chronicle, sports talk shows, and some fans last year, I never remember him lashing out at the city of Houston or it's fans. He's only had good things to say. He loves Houston, and I will happily give a standing O to somebody that repeatedly speaks admirably about the city of Houston and it's fans!
5 years w/ Houston. No Complaints. Played w/ Heart Leader of the team Love the city of Houston Brought us our first playoff in 4 years Loved the team and his teammates. I think he deserves a standing ovation for bringing us exciting and fun BB.. for playing with passion and loving the game. J
Well, he hasn't dissed the city at all but he's sure as hell dissed the organization. Personally, I would neither cheer him nor boo him at this point. I agree the effort he put in while he was with the Rockets is worthy of cheering, but in my mind the way he's handled being traded has negated that. Not so far as to deserve boos, but so far as to make me feel he doesn't deserve special treatment one way or the other.
steve deserves a standing ovation, and I think at least a considerable part of fans will give him his due. If you only give standing ovation to a player winning for you the champion, you have few to cheer for, and it is very cold-minded imo. steve really play with all his hearts for this franchise, and he deserves the respect and love.
Give me a break - You've never missed a day of work to go to a Stros or Rox game? It isn't like he was missing a game, just was going to catch a later flight. you're probably one of those guys that thinks he should miss the birth of his child for a practice. It's not like he wantede a month off to promote a rap album (see Ron Artest). I'm not going tonight because I live out of town, but wish I could. Stevie isn't the best player to ever wear the Rox uniform but he did play with heart. It's amazing that the best you can come up with to boo him is that he wanted to go to the Super Bowl or that he didn't want to play for Vancouver (see Kiki Vandeweigh (sp), John Elway or more recently Eli Manning).
It's more amazing that you can put words in my mouth. I didn't say boo him. I said give him a polite round of applause when he's introduced and be done with it. Are you going to jump up and down and slap high fives with your buddies if he dunks over Yao? Are you a Rockets or Magic fan?
