Thats the most noticable theme with each social networking tool, that women overuse the f*** out of them. I've never liked the approach of a site being so ADDICTING. I think people miss the point there. You don't have to be "hooked" onto something to like it. "OMG, Myspace I'm like SOOOO ADDICTED!!"... to me I thought myspace/facebook is cool, sure. Nothing to get worked into a frenzy over. I dont have to send visible signals to other people that I'm on the latest, greatest thing. Even better is they can put their profiles on private, hidden away from public view so that doesnt happen in the first place.
as sad as it is, so many people post everyday on what they are doing, how they feel, play games on it. i do have an account, but the main reason i like it so much was that i could stay in touch with my friends back home (houston) because i live abroad.
At this point, I mainly go on FB about once a day or every other day just to check if someone's tagged incriminating pictures of me so I can untag it before any of the "parents" or students get to see it.
and reading the same people's posts everyday can get a little old, especially if you don't like that person.
facebook is about to tip over the edge of not being cool anymore in the next 6 months. and yes there will be something next in line.
i'm not sure if it's FB or the people who write everything that's going on in their lives on it. either way, i'm avoiding it at all costs.
Agree for sure. Facebook isnt some advocacy group thats trying to bridge together families and cares about everyone's emotional well-being. Its a FOR-PROFIT site trying to build up its user trying to dump ads and stuff on you so maybe you buy some crap. Thats the thing I never liked about the social networking, the migratory nature having to change places every 6 months. On Facebook theres more older people, more closer family connections holding people in maybe. I doubt it just rapidly fades. The older people arent going anywhere. Would you make your mom and dad follow you to the next 4 sites you try?
To me if someone doesn't have a fb acconunt, they are simply anti social. In this day and age, you socialize with such websites and manners, so get with the times people. I don't understand the negativity toward facebook. It's just fine to me.
I think that idea about facebook only being for college kids helped make it grow so quickly. College students liked the exclusivity so they joined when they heard that. 19 - 24 year olds that were not in college heard that rumor and didn't want to feel left out so they joined quickly. Then there's the high school kids who always try to act older who will want one, and lastly the 30 year olds who want to feel younger.
Ronny had a facebook a while back but then he took it down, so im actually interested in what he has to say in this matter.
I Have facebook but dont use it much. and I dont think you are antisocial, if you dont have a fb account, people in clutchfans are talking to other people, so they arent antisocial, they are a lot of forums to talk with other people, like in facebook.
Hmm, I never considered it so important. The thing that strikes me most about it is that it's considered SHOCKING if you don't have one? I don't get that. I haven't had one for ages, maybe a couple of years. I used to use it for all kinds of unMuslim behavior lol. When my 14 cousins decided to request friends or whatever, that was it for me, I was OUTTTT. lol
