Is it Knee Jerk if the guy has 23 games under his belt, and is shooting a putrid percentage?

Is it knee jerk if a guy plays 23 games and turns it over on the dribble more than a baby and his bottle?

Look, I think signing him for the MLE was a good move, but let's not sugarcoat things, Ariza has struggled this year...BIG TIME !

He has been struggling a TON in terms of playing this year, but what he pulled today was inexcusable and absolutely pathetic.

It's knee jerk if we as fans have been told beforehand that the whole year is set aside for player development.

It's knee jerk for people to call for his trade, based of his performance today

It's knee jerk that everytime any player has a bad game people here go on the opposite badwagon

Let him play and see what he is at the end of the season, number 1 is not his role, but without Yao and Tmac, Rick gave him his vote of confidence and stated that Ariza can be an all-star in this league.

Exactly. Who here is actually delusional enough to think this team could compete for a championship? Whats the harm in letting a 6' 8" 24 y/o athletic wing get some game time development? Its just icing on the cake that the Rockets are fairly competitive this year.

Of course he has struggled, I know he has, but I am happy we have Ariza, a 25 year old young, athletic, forward who can drive and play defense. I would take him over a 30 year old Artest any day.

This is not going to be an easy year without our two superstars, when Yao comes back Ariza's role will be set and he can perform better..

Is it kneejerk when he has had a combined total of 2 good games so far? Hell, Luther Head has done that.

The guy has played TERRIBLE so far this season. That fact should at least be admitted. Maybe he can change in the future but there is absolutely no denying that he has been a piece of crap so far.

2 good games? The guy avg 17.7 and 5, 3,

A little exaggerating....plus I admitted he is having a bad year, but people calling for his head and trade him is a bit unnecessary

17.7 shooting less than 40% from the field and playing horrid defense with a few exceptions is hardly "good."

What do we gain with Ariza taking most of the shots? Seriously? I mean, he's supposed to be a 3rd option behind Yao and T-Mac anyways so what's giving him more shots gonna develop?

He's a starter already so let him get "game time development" by playing heavy minutes and picking his spots. I think he should start getting used to the 3rd option right here and now and start giving up shots to other people.

He was brought here to be part of the future, this year was never supposed to be a championship contending year, we were going to devolop the young guys and get ready for a return of Yao. These guys already have the chemistry, passion, and heart. Ariza is not the number one guy, but I am glad to have him over Artest and I'm sure you guys will see that soon enough

Im not going through the trouble of copying and pasting his good games because of how ridiculous this statement is. Compare a 6' 2" combo guard with no position to Ariza.. lol.. just look for yourself

What does shooting terribly, having no court awareness, and playing no defense do to help his future? He needs to play within his capabilities to know how to play when he returns to his normal role. That means taking open shots and playing defense. And his attitude today was pathetic to say the least

I thought we did not like volume shooters in this board.

I agree, his attitude was stupid and immature, but you can't expect a guy who has been told to basically go out there and be the number one option after years of being a role player just flip the switch, he is obviously no T-mac or any other star, but if they reevalute the game plan and make him take less shots and get back to the things that he does best, he can turn in around...

IMO, that will only get him in a bad habit of taking bad shots and feeling like he does not need to play defense because he is "the man." If it is a tough transition for him to go from "role player" to "the man," imagine how hard it will be switching back. If he simply played within his capabilities, he would be a much improved player. If he stopped driving with defenders in front of him and chose his spots to drive wisely like he did against Cleveland, he would be much better. He needs to also get back to the defender he has been in the past, not be a pure gambler on the defensive end. He is getting steals, but he is also getting beat twice as often.

You mean developing players are not allowed to shoot well or learn how to dribble?

    ;)
