wow, pass first thinks Yao is soft and wanted Franchise out of here. I'm sure he wold have been happier with Tmac and Kobe in the backcrout and Shaq, KG and TD up front. Fantasy drafts dont happen in the NBA Pass, we make with what we have, so try to contain your b****ing to yourself

Yao is NOT soft, he is just slow to react.

He loses a lot of rebounds because he just watches the ball, and never jumps for it.

If Yao would jump 1/2 a second earlier he would get TONS more rebounds.

My guess is he never had to jump for a rebound before coming to the NBA and has just never learned how.

Yao's reaction time is slow...and he will always be beaten by quicker players.

He looked real soft when he made Brian Grant his *****. Throwing his body around, causing Grant to plead for help from the refs. Looked like a player that was pleading as if playing Shaq.

That brings up the question for me who would be the ideal power forward to play next to Yao. It sounds like a quick, explosive leaper who can block some shots would be the right complement in order to overcome Yao's slower reaction times (instead of players like Mo and Howard, who are decent offensively, but do not really grab the rebounds Yao doesn't get, and who aren't exactly intimidating defenders). Would someone like Stromile Swift (perhaps people have better ideas) be a better complement to Yao?

    SJC,

Stromile would be the ideal fit, imho.

We need more quickness on the front line, maybe they are hoping that Badiane (who is big and quick) will develop into that guy.

Swift is a free agent, correct? I doubt he'll come for the MLE with all the money GM's are throwing around. If Troy Murphy and Kmart got huge contracts, Swift is probably gonna get a big one as well.

Yes, he is a free agent after this year...but going for huge money. I don't think we can get him. I was just using him as an example of who might be the type of player we should try to play next to Yao.

Ideally someone with a little more passion for the game and more consistency.

If we could somehow sign or sign-and-trade for Swift and A. Daniels in the offseason, then we'll have an awesome team next year.

Stomile would be a nice fit, but not ideal... you want someone that brings the defensive quickness and can hit a 15 foot jumper to keep the defense honest, something Cato could not do with any consistency and I actually think Stomile is even a worse shooter than Cato.

Ideally, someone like Theo Ratliff would fit the bill.

His reaction time seems to be getting a little better. Did you notice, that Yao's actually won some jump balls in the past few games.

The Rockets should count their blessings that they didn't draft Jay Williams. He sucked even before his motorcycle accident. Amare might turn out to be a better player than Yao, but that remains to be seen. But it's worthwhile to remember that no NBA team would have taken Amare over Yao. And let's remember that Yao's no Sam Bowie. He's already made the All-Star Team twice.

If you want to look at bad first picks, look at Kwame Brown.

    Fellas,

Ya know, I posted this even though Yao had two good games for a reason: because I know he's capable of flashes of brilliance, but his soft nature will eventually shine through. Take a look at the last game vs. the Nets. Yao was soft again. Homey just doesn't like to mix it up in the post.

Hey, I like Yao. But if hindsight is 20/20, you almost have to agree that Amare would have been the better pick. We've seen 2 yrs. of both of these young men, and Amare just gets it done better.

    P*ss 1st, sh*t 2nd:

You are right about last night's game. As for your unconditional love for Amare, you should write a letter to CD or Les and propose a Yao trade with Suns. I bet both teams would be happier. :)
