we both watched first round exits...yeah, it's the same team buddy... winning 22 games is not mediocre...your roster combined with what you do outside of winning 22 games in a row is mediocre... great !!!! i was afraid you were gonna say something more important than shooting /sarcasm i bolded your statement to help you answer my "soft" question there's no such thing as a perfect franchise, just Championship franchises...and with this current roster we will NOT win a championship...hell, we can't even get outta the first round...we need PERSONELL !!!!! we haven't had fantasy since 1993...we have a good team, just not a playoff competetive team...and you can't disagree...just do a little reserach on our playoff history since 1995...1995 was 13 years ago dude...13 years !!!!
yep. he's so mediocre. god. 6'9" two time scoring champions with point guard skills are literally EVERYwhere these days. I tripped over one when getting my paper this morning, and had to kick him off my lawn! its unbelievably irritating. /sarcasm
A simple 6 letter word would turn this team from first round fodder to possible Western Conference champion. One, little teensy word...........HEALTH................ Is the roster perfect? No. Could we use better more athletic players? Yes. However, nothing would change, not one iota if Tmac and Yao are injured again. We need health........out of the entire team........and if we can get better, more athletic players (particularly a penetrating PG) then we can win...and win big....but even without those, we have such a major advantage at Yao and Tmac's posistion and they draw so much attention that lessor players can contribute and thrive. HEALTH........HEALTH.......HEALTH......say it with me......HEALTH..... DD oh and Corey Maggette too.
T-Mac's 100 million dollar contract over 5 years is killing us. I think you can have one player making that kind of money but two? Yao makes 80 million over 5 years and T-Mac makes 100 million. It would be better if we had two 50 million dollar players instead of two guys breaking that bank at 180 million dollars. I would give Yao 100 million as the franchise player and try to get two 40 or 50 million dollar players instead. Or even 3 x 30 million dollar players.
both of them don't deserve that amount of money considering they never play a full season. to make that much money, you better play all 82 games.
don't get me wrong, when they do play, they do deserve the money we give them. look at our record when they are on the court. but when you have failed in the first round for 3 of the 4 years and lost one year due to injury, it's hard to grasp those 2 are killing us with how much money they make. but i'm realistic. as long as those 2 can play in the playoffs, i don't care. yao not playing in the playoffs last yr was killer. missing reg. season games are fine, but playoffs? nobody better miss the playoffs next yr.
there are at least 15 teams in the league who have higher payrolls than houston. Teams like San Antonio(+15mil), Detriot(+4mil), Orlando(+5mil), Cleveland(+18mil), Lakers(+12mil) & Boston(+14mil)....What do all these teams have in common??? No 1st rd exits this year. Fact is if you have 2 top 15 talents on your roster they're gonna take atleast 30mil on the cap. McGrady & Yao's salaries aren't "killing" the Rockets...bad personel descions are.
As of 06/30/2008, here are the NBA Teams and their 2007-2008 total roster salaries - as they would count against the cap and for luxury tax purposes. 1) Dallas - First round exit - $105,510,507 2) NYK - Not in playoffs - $96,269,149 3) Denver - First round exit - $83,151,241 4) Cleveland - Second round exit - $81,489,553 5) Boston - NBA Champions - $75,192,140 6) Miami - Not in playoffs - $74,243,998 7) Philadelphia - First round exit - $74,234,809 8) LA Lakers - NBA finals exit - $72,781,038 9) Phoenix - First round exit - $70,815,341 10) Houston - First round exit - $68,751,329 Now, I don't know where you got your facts, but this is the most up to date information I have found anywhere on NBA team salaries. So, according to this, not only are you wrong in saying that 15 teams have higher payrolls than the rockets (there are only nine), but you are also wrong in suggesting that there is some correlation between spending and getting past the first round. Notice that of the top ten teams in 2007-2008 salary, only three got past the first round. three. If you want to bring me some facts to counter these, I will gladly look at them and compare my information to yours. But until that point, I think it is pretty easy to say that the Rockets are very competitive in terms of spending on players, and that it is not a case of losing by being cheap with our payroll.
Yeah but you have to look at how a team like San Antonio is constructed and how their salary is distributed. How much are the Spurs big three being paid? Ginobili, Parker, Duncan??
