Right....the man was not joking. You don't throw words out like that as a "joke".

I have never experienced any President or world leader walk back on so many statements calling them "jokes" or whatever when he gets push back.

    seriously?? seriously?

I just watched the video. Honestly I'm surprised at the reaction. In poor taste? perhaps. a big deal? I don't think so.

The President is continually throwing stuff out there and when there is backlash, he walks back on it and says it was a joke or he wasn't serious.

So, let's agree the treasonous line was a joke. The "Unamerican" line was clearly not a joke IF you are using the video as proof.

This is one of the dumbest things you have posted... and that’s saying something.

I said as much in another thread. It's amazing just how many serious topics he can "joke" about.

Sorry...after the fact it's a joke, once everyone calls him on it.

I think you're overreacting, honestly. I don't even find the "UnAmerican" line offensive--to the extent Democrats threw a hissy fit during the State of the Union, and pouted their way through it as a means of showing their disrespect, I think that is un-American. And don't get me wrong, I am not defending Trump, I just think that Democrats are acting like children. There's a tradition in this country of "loyal opposition," meaning in part you respect the people you disagree with. Democrats here manifested their disrepect. I don't have a problem with Trump calling them out on that. When Republicans blatantly disrespected Obama, that was also un-American. Obama was President and was due the respect he had earned by virtue of being President.

nonsense. you guys are seriously manifesting the so-called Trump Derangement Syndrome if you're gonna fixate on that treason line. I hadn't given it much thought from reading the news accounts, I assumed it really was a bad slip on his part from reading accounts in the NYT and WaPo; until I watched the actual video, where he is clearly clearly making a joke of it. You guys seriously, seriously need to lighten up.

Please don't compare the Republican (Fox News! Not Fake!) treatment of Obama (they literally called him a foreign Muslim quisling amongst other worse things) to the treatment of Trump by a HUGE portion of America. He's so embarrassing that even the Weekly Standard is throwing their hands up like, "eh, **** this guy". Trump deserves to be mocked, mercilessly, but it's all based on fact. It's so easy to fact check the stupid stuff he says, there's really no opinion pieces needed. It can't be Fake News if you're just quoting the dumbass.

Sure are a lot of Unamerican, treasonous citizens of this country because there are a lot of people who would not clap for him. I sure do respect this guy...I mean he certainly commands it.

You guys are the last folks that should be defining treasonous after the overuse of it last year.

Do you guys see everything in only in extreme dualities with no gradient middle ground?

Seriously? Like there is quite the difference between not ****ing clapping and Russian interfere in our Democratic thought process and possible Tump campaign connection to that interference.

There is an active FBI investigation to see whether the current sitting President lead a camaign that used the help of a foreign regime that has conflict with our economic and military agenda influence the election.

That is unprecedented and far less of a reach than not clapping .

Not unAmerican. Maybe juvenile or disrespectful or unprofessional or however else you want to characterize it. But, there isn't much that is more American than divided government and free expression. Congresspeople refusing to clap is a manifestation of both of those things. If you think respect for authority is wound up in American identity, I suggest a rereading of the declaration of independence.
