Anyone with complaints about Bill needs to watch the SAC homer announcers, Napier and Reynolds, for a few games. Bill is not bad as far as homer announcers go. CCTV5 announcers? Terrible. Should be shot like Tibetan pilgrims.

I disagree. I'd rather have commentators that simply tell the game like it is and give analysis, rather than get excited. Basically I'd like sports broadcasts to be more like how news is presented, even-handed and calmly, with a measure of analysis, and that's pretty much what the CCTV announcers give you. I don't like the hype and homerism that the American announcers use. It's acceptable when it's applied the Rockets, because we agree with the hype, but it is downright sickening when applied to any other team or player. I remember muting the TV for long stretches during the Finals because the announcers were sucking Dampier's dick, even to the point of proclaiming him a "top 10 shot blocker" (Damp isn't even close). When they broadcast Kobe, Lebron, or Wade, the blatant hype machine is totally out of control. I'd rather not have the announcers tell me how freaking awesome, unstoppable, greatest player ever, etc. Kobe/Lebron/Wade is, I'd prefer to see it for myself, with the announcers offering measured analysis to help me see that. That's what the CCTV announcers give. They don't get excited. I'd prefer to get excited myself rather than have the announcers get excited for me and essentially tell me when to get excited. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Oh, what's wrong with saying "good shot" after a good shot? Do they have to say "OOOHHHH BAAABBBBY!!!! OOOOOH BBAAAABBBYY!!! WHAT A WICKED SICK SHOT THAT WAS!!!!!!"
Last one I swear.....If you dont like the way Bill Worrel does his announcing why dont you just turn the TV down and let the rest of us enjoy Novak draining threes in peace? I guess my joke sucked....but thats ok.....I think your thread sucks and I will not contribute to it any more in the hopes that it will go away (one more sucky joke for the road)
I like Bill Worrell, but he was much better when Calvin was out there. I want Calvin back. And I'd like a pony too, except a prettier and faster one than rhadmanthus's pony.

actually, I thing I got used to Clyde repeating everything BIll says.. it's actually hilarious sometimes.. I really have a good laugh every once in a while because of that... it goes: -Bill: the rockets brought this guy along and he has been nothing but a great addition to the team -Clyde: he is a great addition to the BALL TEAM Bill... and Sofine.. you're cool man .. dont feel immature.. it's good to joke every once in a while.. especially in threads that are actually "JOKES"..

Best commentator in Rox history is Gene Peterson. Yeah, some of you may not know it, but he used to do both the TV and radio broadcast. Don't know exactly when it changed as I remember turning the TV down and radio up in '86 vs. the Celts (of course that was on NBC) but as obnoxious as he is; it was truely entertaining. "He's been in the lane so long he's got paint on the bottom of his shoes" - GP - along with many other corney quotes. So, I guess if you don't like biased announcers...then Gene is not your guy, but I enjoyed listening to him better than anyone else since. Gene Peterson - Tellin' it like it is.
