I googled Geohot after reading this. Then I find out that google now has to hand over my IP address to Sony because I googled it. Awesoe.

Started typing some stuff but, in the effort of not turning this into D&D matter, Anonymous has no reason to lie and do not need to lie about their actions.

yeah, but Anonymous doesn't really have structure or hierachy. Some Anonymous member, who also happens to be an xbox fanboy, could have done it without any of the Ops knowing about it.

Anyways, people aren't too happy with the hacking group right now. Don't mess with gamers.

That Youtube is simply a text to speech of the link I posted before, with a little added commentary in the end.

You might not like their policy, you might not like their actions, but they say what they stand for and they do what they say. They've DDOSed PSN before and took credit for it. Why would they deny it if they're behind it this time?

I wouldn't be surprised if some rogue Anon members are behind it or if it's a Geohot fanboy's doing. Anon is just an easy target to cast blames on now that they've gone mainstream.

If you do think trust these honorable anonymous hackers' words, they already told you who attacked PSN in the video.

To get people to hate Sony obviously.

Funny thing is Sony never blamed anonymous yet anonymous continue to blame Sony for blaming them.

Tomorrow is Tuesday btw. We shall see what happens.

You didn't even read everything I posted. Operation Sony was over 3 weeks ago when Anon used LOIC to bring down PSN and claimed credit. This isn't the same attack. I don't know how I can explain this any clearer.

Sony didn't say Anon did it, but it was obviously who comes to OUR mind when they said the downtime was due to "external attacks". I know I thought it was Anon, and I assumed that you and many others jumped to the same conclusion. Other media sources also hinted Anon might be behind this, which is probably why they had to release a note saying they didn't do it.

Just to play devil's advocate, they could lied and said they did it, but why would they? They already showed they can bring down PSN, can you give me a legitimate reason on why they would lie? Because they're worried about all the gamer outrage/public backlash? Then again...

Immediately after the last attack, Anon said they won't attack Sony in a way that'll affect users. You seems to have your mind set and are sticking to it. That's fine. In the end, we all believe what we want to believe.

You are right, this isn't the same attack. The pissed PSN users have made them change their strategy.

You believe anonymous videos are truthful yet Sony's official statement is a lie?

Their ultimate target is Sony. They've continued to send threatening letter/video for the past a few weeks; they've attacked PSN and a number of Sony websites only to realize they needed to win over the users; then they tried to sit in Sony stores to hand out fliers; since PSN is down, while Sony said nothing about anonymous, they've continued to post blogs/videos to trash talk Sony and saying how this is all Sony's fault and apparently they convinced some of you.

    You believe them?

Sorry for not being able to join ya to believe these cool, trustable, honorable, heroic, anonymous, internet hackers.

I don't think it really matters. Ultimately any big network has to secure itself against threats, and recognize that at the end of the day the users will only care that it is down. Considering how long it has been it must have been pretty major.

Happened on a holiday weekend with 3 major releases. And one of those (portal 2) even needed PSN to activate the PC version that was included. Ouch. Not a good weekend for Sony and their online service.

I'll clarify one thing that I didn't say.

No, and I never said that. I never once said Sony is lying with its statement. I said I believe Sony was attacked by either random Anon members operating by themselves or Geohot fanboys. You should probably 1) read my posts more carefully or 2) not put words in my mouth if you're trying to post a convincing rebuttal.

I do believe that Anon video is truthful. I hope that answers your repeated questions about whether I believe them or not.

Yes, I kinda do side with Anons on some issues, like keeping Wikileaks mirrors up. Like I read from somewhere, they are a check and balance against the government keeping information from its people.

The Sony PSN attack isn't one of the issues I condone.

I would also like to clarify one thing: I was asking a question, not giving a statement, and certainly not trying to put words in your mouth.

Thank you for the answer. I myself don't trust what anonymous says. End of discussion.

I don't know or really care if Anon was responsible, although their statement was carefully parsed to state that rogue members of their group might be responsible.

What's crazy is Sony's bungling of this. Shutting down the network for 5 days now with sparse comments on when it will be back up. It looks really bush league. I hardly ever play games any more, but I was looking forward to downloading Braid on Friday, when I found myself not working and without kids.

I'd be pissed if I had bought Mortal Kombat, Portal 2, or any other game and couldn't play online during a holiday weekend. Isn't blu ray disabled without network connectivity as well?

Yes, it's free, but built-in network connectivity was part of what the system was sold on. Sony is effectively depriving their customers, especially those who have upgraded to Plus.

It's amazing how inept Sony has been in this last generation of consoles.
