Yes. But, honestly, it's a good value and I'd probably pay for it even if the online didn't require it. You get two free games every month, both usually worth $10-$20 (I'm sure at some point they'll start doing retail games too), and you get Resogun for free, which is one of the best games on the PS4 so far. Also if you have a PS3 and/or Vita, you get free games for those too with the same account (NBA 2k14 was free last month for the PS3). Plus you get discounts on some other downloadable games. Also you can usually find sales on the year cards. I got two one year cards for $30 each last Black Friday.
If you still have the box, get the serial number off of that and go give it to all the local Gamestops and Pawn Shops in case someone tries to sell it there. Also keep an eye on local Craigslist/classified sites for anything suspicious.
Well I finally got myself a PS4. I was going to get one when Fifa 15 came out anyway... and after watching a bunch of World Cup games, I decided I couldn't wait anymore and had to play some next-gen Fifa right now. So I got one with Fifa 14 and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete. About the system in general... I hate the new interface as much as I thought I would. No way to organize games into folders like PS3, no wonderful simplicity of navigation like PS3. I only have two games now and I'm already annoyed, so what's it going to be like when I have 20+ games and no way to sort them? Can't even change the background/theme either. On the bright side, there are still almost no ads, and launching/exiting games is waaaay snappier than before. The load time for the store also went from like 20 seconds to about 1 second. My complaint about the controller still stands: I wish the shoulder buttons were on raised "platforms" like on the PS3 controllers, giving my fingers room to curl if they wish, instead of being forced flat constantly. Maybe I'll get used to that though... and everything else about the controller is an improvement. As far as the games... next gen Fifa vs current-gen is a night-and-day improvement. Way better physics, tons more animations, crowd looks real, menus are a billion times faster. And in Dynasty Warriors 8, I never saw any pop-in... ever. Pretty staggering after having to accept enemies appear out of thin air 30 yards in front of me in previous entries. Couldn't be happier with the games so far. I'm definitely going to be picking up AC4, inFamous, and a number of other things when they get cheaper. Will definitely get Transistor at some point. Will need to figure out if I want Child of Light on PS4 or PC. Most excited for Dying Light & Bloodborne, whenever they come out.
If I wanted to sell my ps4, what happens to my downloadable games like second son which I paid over $60 for? Can you transfer it to a physical copy/external HDD or it just gets deleted? Or can I transfer it to the new owner that's buying my PS4?
As with most digital games, I'm pretty sure there's no way to transfer licenses. The license is tied to your account forever. That's just the nature of digital. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Happy Bungie day! They announced the collector's edition and a few other editions blah blah blah. Beta begins 7/17 for PS3/PS4 7/23 for Xbox 360 / Xbox one Beta Ends 7/26 (and apparently if you play on this day you get some special emblem or some such) There's also 2 days in between (21/22 I believe for maintenance) It's permanently tied to your PSN account. If you want to give them your PSN account too, yeah you can "transfer" it.
That Ghost edition looks pretty cool, but I promised myself I would never buy any edition with statue type crap included with it after God of War 3. And I can't justify spending $150 on it. Now that Limited Edition tho...I will strongly consider since it includes the first two Expansion passes
Same here. I had no plans on getting limited edition anything, and I don't ususally buy dlc. (screw those 3 ****ty multiplayer maps you're adding on that I wont get to play since my friends don't own them) With that said I'm definitely buying the expansions for this for rhe single player content if nothing else. So for that reason I'm eyeing the limited edition. I really want that Ghost toy, but it isn't worth $60 to me.
Changed my mind, I forgot the game comes out a few days after my birthday. I think I'll get the Collector's edition. I was going to get the Limited anyway, plus the Ghost will look good on my desk.
I want this game: <iframe width="320" height="215" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/t20Z6YNsUOI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The Ghost version is already showing out of stock on Amazon, not sure about other outlets. Was gonna wait on preordering the Limited Edition but I think I need to go ahead and jump on it
Gamespot just finished a video series on No Man's Sky. I'd recommend checking it out. I liked the last couple of videos in particular, because those are the ones that help to explain a little more how the game actually works. http://www.gamespot.com/the-next-big-game-no-mans-sky/
Nice, I'm getting more and more intrigued by the possibilities in the game. Just really unsure about the mechanics.
No. Everyone got a code for the Alpha who owned a PS4. To get a code for the Beta you either need to win an internet contest or pre-order.
Got an email from Bungie a couple of days ago asking me to register which system I want the beta in. After I registered, they said I'll get three extra beta codes.
