I think I might try Outlast tonight or sometime this weekend. I think it is probably pretty short, not that unique of a story, and probably full of cheap scares (as opposed to the "scares" you see in Silent Hill for example), but it seems like it could be fun. I've been excited for it for a few months though, so I'm a little biased. Since it is free (with PS+), it really seems like a no-brainer as far as giving it a try. Unless these type of games are too unsettling for you (and there's no shame in that...the game does seem pretty nerve-racking).
l downloaded, and played for a few minutes. It seems cool, and I can see how it would be scary, I am just not into survival horror. I've never understood the draw of being scared for "fun".
Is Outlast really that scary? Also, If I absolutely hate horror movies should I even download this game? I really hate those stupid sound effects that make you jump out of your seat. **** that. Then again I hear the game is good.
There is a nice "survival" feeling to these games. When you have rocket launchers, grenades, shields, etc., you often feel quite invulnerable in games (and thus, you employ certain strategies). In survival horror games, the player is much more "vulnerable," and thus, the strategies involved tend to be a little different. That change of pace can be quite fun from time to time. I prefer survival horror games with excellent atmosphere, story, art design (and monster design), etc., rather than just something with "cheap" scares and nothing else. If a game doesn't nail those other aspects, the cheap scares can get old pretty quickly.

Downloaded Outlast today. Played for about 45 min. As others have said its scary because **** is going to jump out at you. Did I jump? Oh yeah! Was it scary? No, in that I won't spend 2 seconds thinking about anything in the game later. Too little story for it to be scary. Still pretty fun. Expecially for a free game. Edit: I just watched the video. I guess my post was pretty worthless. It showed everything I said.
We have some info/media from The Order now: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/pXOy463Cy88" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/2lIG-BI2Vno" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Graphics look fantastic of course, but not quite sold on the gameplay yet. They didn't really show much, but it looks pretty bland so far IMO. I'd be OK with playing it if the rest of the game is good (love the mood the story trailer set, good music), but I'd hope the gameplay is a little better than what this seemed to show. Sony had a show for several games (not all PS4). I haven't bothered to post them here, but if you're interested, there is new stuff for MLB The Show, The Witness, DriveClub (IIRC?), and a few others.
So has anyone played the full version of Strider? I played the demo and liked it but I'm not sure that it's worth paying $15 for the whole game. Does it go on pretty much the same? Does your weapon get moar awesomer? Is it very long? Also...I'm one of the schmucks that got a COD Ghosts code from Amazon and thought "how bad can it be?" Very bad. Like unplayable. I have a new coaster.
I cant bring myself to get involved with Outlast...that **** scares me too much. Im excited to get more info on upcoming games, there is a ton to look forward to. I also want to hear more thoughts on Outlast from people...If I cant bring myself to play it, then I'd like to live vicariously through you guys. Btw, graphics on The Order 1886 are sick...I might not even care about the gameplay.
I've played a little of the demo, and I liked it. The reviews it has gotten are solid. 76 on metacritic, not amazing but good. I will probably buy it, and yeah your weapon gets power ups as you go. Not sure about the length of the game. The Order looks great, but I need to see more game play to judge.
I added you, unfortunately I no longer have killzone though. I have Ghosts or NBA 2K if you're into those.
****, I havent signed up for PS+ yet...I have to wait until I really, really need it since it sucks that Im paying for Live too. Im hoping the PS4 just comes out with great single player games so I can avoid going multiplayer as long as possible. I also need a Vita...
If anyone still plays Warframe and needs a teammate, add me (Gunslinger057) and let me know. For a free game, it's pretty fun despite the somewhat repetitive gameplay. The sheer number of warframes and weapons make for an interesting mix though.
Meh, the graphics are sure to be great, but the little gameplay we saw looked like a very generic third person shooter. Even some of the people who saw the 20 minute demo behind closed doors thought it looked pretty underwhelming. The game is set for Fall 2014 I believe, and I don't see Sony releasing Uncharted 4 a few months after. So, Uncharted 4 probably isn't coming until 2015 (in my opinion) . I just am not interested in any of the PS4 exclusives that are coming out this year. Probably won't re-purchase a PS4 until 2015.
Yeah, I don't think 2015 is too surprising for Uncharted 4. I might be remembering wrong, but given their comments, it seemed they were still pretty early with their PS4 work. I'm thinking teaser at E3, maybe a GameInformer cover in early 2015 (with media/info blowout), and a release around the following E3 maybe? I'm optimistic that RAD can make a good product with The Order, but we'll see. It probably will be their big exclusive for the end of 2014. There will be other nice exclusives too, though not sure if any will really get a huge push (will probably have a lot of great indie games too). Sony will probably rely on being the cheaper, more powerful system for multiplatform games when it comes to trying to sell the system this year. For example, they will probably push Destiny very hard (and strongly associate it with PS4). I don't think a lot of Sony's big hitters will be ready until 2015 or later. A lot of those studios were putting out games in 2013, and of course those studios will also likely take their time trying to push the PS4. Still kind of curious what Media Molecule is up to. And GG probably needs to ditch KZ and work on that RPG or whatever it is.
Anyone knows where to find a Ps4 online amazon is out. We have none in the whole city ,but we got Xbox ones thanks for any help
