Fwiw DLNA was patched in 6 months after PS3 launch...Sony probably wanted to get the system out as fast as possible and these multimedia features were at the bottom of the check list...it should come after launch...Sony can't be this stupid.
The implication from Shu on Twitter was that you'd be able to jump straight into the game, and the caching would happen in the background. "Unless poorly engineered." I think Sony might be saying "caching" = play while installing data, "install" = wait and install data. It is a little vague in the FAQ, but it didn't sound like an external HDD would be supported *at all*. Though that seems odd too. I can see not supporting game installs and things like that (and no need to support it for MP3s I guess ).
I was at Gamestop picking up BattleField and I saw this guy with GTA 5, NBA 2K14,Madden 25 and FIFA. He was trading all that in to put the money towards PS4 smart move or no?
I probably would have kept GTA5 (unless he's already put in tons of hours), but if he got good credit for the rest of the games, that seems OK. I don't think the PS4 is worth losing a substantial amount of great games at this point though (definitely wouldn't lose the PS3/360 over it). Won't really be THAT great (once the "next-gen" hype dissipates) for another 6-12 months at the earliest IMO.
and why the hell can't we upload our clips to youtube? how hard is it to implement that, and why is sony preventing that? mark cerny said a while back that we would be able to...
I honestly don't remember. I think I only saw it mentioned in passing, and it was just repeated by a non-insider as something an insider said. I want to say it was either sourced to thuway, famousmortimer, or even CBOAT (so reliable/semi-reliable sources), though I don't remember. If it was by someone who hasn't gotten things right, I likely wouldn't have bothered noting it. I might have been mistaken, though this isn't exactly crazy news. It certainly did seem like Respawn was planning on bringing Titanfall to PS4 (given their comments to this last bit of news), and certainly doing some work on a PS4 build at this point wouldn't be too surprising if those were the plans. Can't be confirmed or denied (unless Respawn cares to comment on it for some reason), so not much point to it one way or the other. My only guess is that they're trying to keep things simple for launch, then branch out to other services post-launch. That's the only thing that seems reasonable to me. But doesn't even sound like they considered MP3 playback, so who knows what they're thinking. Shu is definitely my favorite exec though, thanks to tweets like this: https://twitter.com/yosp/status/395665269441318912

@SAVAGESSSSSSS I know
— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) October 30, 2013

funny how the xbox one has more features readily available compared to ps4. and the ps4 is the one with all of these restrictions from the start. funny how that works... im still getting a ps4 over the xbox one, but for the short term, xbox one seems like the better purchase.
Lets see More powerful gaming machine Less Money Better resolution and frame rate natively Less Money Coming out sooner Less money ...nah sorry, I don't agree
That's generally been the takeaway with the two consoles. I expected a little better than this from the PS4, but I think most expected the XBO to have more features. Whether those features were worth anything (and whether they were better than what Sony might have offered) is up to each individual. For example, I'd really like MP3 and DLNA support (especially since it SHOULD be there), but I like that the PS4 seems to offer higher resolutions/better framerate than the XBO (plus other random gaming related things). Those other features are nice, but I'll take better game performance (and a cheaper pricetag) over most of those things (especially if those things can be added over time, while better performance can't be added). Others might not care about 1080p vs 720p in games, but they do care about Skype, NFL fantasy integration, etc., and in that case, the XBO is definitely the better buy.
So on a semi-related note, the cable I needed to use my new DualShock 4 arrived. I spent a couple hours last night playing Payday 2 with it. I also spent about 10 minutes using it on Street Fighter 2 HD Remix to test the d-pad, and plugged it into my PC to check if it would work in ePSXe. So a few miscellaneous things first: My PC recognized it right away without issue... just had to configure the buttons in ePSXe and I was golden. On the PS3, the PS button does not work for some reason. On PS3 (and maybe the PC, I didn't check), the L2/R2 buttons are treated as completely digital rather than analog. Only a "yes/no" on whether they're being pressed. I assume this will be different when used on the PS4. But for now I can't comment on the range of the L2/R2 buttons. Cons: The lack of raised shoulder buttons. If you look at the DS3, you can see the shoulder buttons are on sort of a raised platform, way above the face buttons. This helps in two ways: it positions the buttons closer to the tip rather than the middle of your index finger, and it also gives the tip of your index finger space to curl downwards while pressing the buttons. On the DS4, my finger naturally positions itself such that the middle section of my finger is the only part pressing the button, which feels a little unnatural. Also when I press the button, the tip of my finger is forced to go flat instead of being allowed to curl if it wishes. Pros: Shape of the controller makes it more pleasant to hold. Textured back makes it more comfortable to grip. Lack of indents around the face buttons and d-pad makes it easier to clean. The sticks are absolutely perfect. Less slippage than PS3 or 360 controllers, perfect amount of texture, good position. Indifferent: Face buttons are basically unchanged. The d-pad seems more precise and responsive, but the edges seem a bit sharper than the DS3, so could start hurting your thumb quicker if you're rolling out those hadokens and shoryukens all the time.
thats fine, it was only my opinion, you're free to have your own opinion. titanfall looks 5 times better than every single ps4 exclusive announced thusfar, sadly.... hopefully the game won't be very demanding and ill be able to run it on my new laptop.
Speaking as someone who is more excited for Titanfall than any other game currently Infamous: Second Son looks incredible. Did you mean multiplayer games? If so, I'd agree, but despite my initial skepticism Killzone looks better than Ghosts/Battlefield to me. It'll be out a lot sooner than Titanfall also. What exclusive shooter does Xbox have for the next 5 months?
I thought it was goofy and fun, but I won't be paying for it. Plus there were also major control issues that I could see being a consistent problem.
