The only crapy FF is part 9(just boring gameplay/story)) and part 5 Japan with the introduction of the tedious Job system. FFX is good with the never before use of the grid system...I don't consider FF-X2 a true FF games as it was made just for the fans, hence most of the graphics and enemies are identical to X. FF3(US) and FF7 IMO are the best.

If PS3 comes in at $299 (highly unlikely IMO), there is no way in hell that 360 or even Revolution survives unless all the developers jump ship and make their titles exclusively for MS or Nintendo. Getting a PS3 at $299 upon release is like getting a brand new Benz at the 2002 price.

To me FFX and FFX-2 were about showcasing graphics and flash...a case of style over substance. The true FF masterpieces (IMO) were FF6 [FFIII here in the States] and FF7. This was the case where gameplay, music, story, character development, and overall fun were all blended well together. FF Tactics was another game I consider a classic....sorry noize, but Job System rulez! FF Tactics alone gives me hope for FFXII...

Don't get me wrong. I pretty much share the same opinions that you and noize gave. I too think of FF7 and FF3/6 at the best in the series. I loved Tactics, although I didn't like FF5 as much.

But FFX and FFX-2 were far from crap (I'd probably put FFX in the top 5 FF's). They didn't blend all the aspects of a great game together as well as those other games, but they did a solid job in my opinion. Given the high scores the two games have gotten from various reviewers, I think other people agree. The series may have lost the shine that it had during the late-SNES, early PS1 days, but it is still one of the best series around.

Speaking of FFX, isn't there a way to get all the cut scenes (videos) at the main menu after you beat the game? My friend was able to do that, IIRC with his Japanese version.

You don't have to beat the game. You just have to buy them. Its by one of the arenas. It'll tell you on a cheat page.

You may have gotten some answers indirectly, but I'll try to give a general breakdown.

    1. PS3 will be the more powerful console, possibly even MUCH more powerful.

    2. The Xbox 360 will have at least as good of an online plan as the Xbox did, while there's no telling what the PS3 will do.

    3. The Xbox 360 controller appears to be the better one, at least IMO. Although the PS3 one might undergo some changes.

    4. The PS3 offers BR movie support and built-in WiFi.

    5. Xbox 360 base package will probably cost less than the PS3, although the PS3 will probably only have one SKU. (pro/con for each I guess).

    6. The PS3 offers the use of the Eyetoy, which had a very impressive demo at E3, IMO. Sony may even have more up their sleeve here...maybe a Revolution. :p

    7. The PS3 will support multiple storage devices instead of a proprietary memory card that would be expensive.

    8. The Xbox 360 will launch earlier (the PS3 may arrive as late as a year after the 360 here in the US).

There are probably a couple of more pros and cons for each console, but those are some that I can think of off the top of my head. I can explain in better detail some of the more complicated aspects of each console if you want. For example, while BR offers more space that DVD, the BR drive may not be fast enough to outdo a 12X DVD drive, meaning slower load times (potentially). BR games could also be more expensive. Things like that are a little more complicated to explain in a short comparison list. And of course, a lot of the things for the PS3 are unknown thus far.

XBox 360 is a definite. The Halo series is a must.

PS3 is a maybe depending on the games it plays.

Crap, the wifi is a sep. as I heard it was included... Why isn't it incl. in the 360...Was it because it was rushed...I'm still going to get one, but if price wasn't an issue, why choose the 360 vs. the PS3...

Beats me. If Nintendo can make the DS WiFi capable and keep in under $150, then I don't know why MS couldn't. Although I did hear something about the 360 adapter being a little bit more expensive due to the support of 802.11a. Of course, it only supports that because that is what MS uses for their programs IIRC (Windows Media Extender, I believe). So they may have included it had they decided to stick with either b or g instead of a, and make their programs compatible with any of those.

I don't think it was rushed (the adapter that is, not the Xbox 360 ;)). I'm pretty sure MS mentioned the WiFi adapter at E3, so I'm guessing they were planning one a little before then. It just seemed like they were planning on have it as an accessory the whole time...unlike some other things.:)

You're not really saying the XBox online model is worse than Sony's.

Well, more people play online on the PS2 than the Xbox....

At least, that's what the Sony PR guys would say. Of course, the userbase is the reason why. I'm not sure of the percentages, but obviously XBL is superior in the minds of most people (basically those that don't mind paying subscriptions).

I wonder how important online play is though. While XBL was great, only about 10% of the Xbox userbase actually played online. We need some help from the broadband companies before it really starts to get big. I didn't even attempt to look at any online plans since there was no way I could play online games. I imagine there are a lot gamers who were in a similar situation. Either that, or they don't care to play online.

No, I haven't played Xbox Live nearly enough to say that. But I just don't like the idea of paying to play online. Being able to plug your PS2 in your modem and playing for free is awsome. I've heard Live's format is nice, but for college kids, paying for internet and then paying again to use it for xbox isn't.

A buddy of mine was telling me that Sony is going to introduce video conferencing w/ PS3. A way to talk/see w/ friends or family.

I think we're gonna see an increase in games for 360 and ps3. I'm hoping it won't, but I've heard they could raise it to $70 a piece. :(

Yeah, they has a little presentation of that during E3. Basically, they'll be offering a new camera for the PS3. I think it was called a IP camera, or something like that. It basically acts like you said. As long as you have a PS3, a IP camera, and a broadband connection (and maybe a online subscription plan), you could use it to talk to other people with the same equipment. I believe it will be in HD as well, so maybe there are some interesting things you could do with it for personal projects. Of course, that's all works in theory. Hopefully, we'll learn more about it at TGS or sometime soon.

That's a possibility, but I what I was referring to was completely independent of what game prices will be next-gen. Basically, X=average game price (be it $50,$55,$60, etc). BR games will something like X+$10, or something like that.

AFAIK, a lot of the Xbox 360 launch games are still $50.

Hehe...never thought I'd see "Microsoft" and "hack-proof" in the same sentence.

I will definitely be getting a revolution if only for Metroid Prime 3.

I'm playing the original one right now for the second time. I can't believe the game is over 4 years old. Really holds up well.

Ive had just about every system at some time and at the moment I own both a PS2 and XBox.

Im currently playing God Of War which has to be some type of miricle considering the graphics they managed to get out of the PS2.

Over the last 8 months or so Ive found that if I had to choose between getting a game for the systems, I';d get the XBox version just for the better graphics.

Anyway....at this stage I'll probably hold out for the PS3.

Only two things make me even remotely interested in the XBox 360.

    1. Online play. I was able to get set up and play on XBox Live SOOOOOOO easily. You can only imagine it would be similar with the 360.

    2. Halo 2.5 (I refuse to call Halo 2 a full game!).

As for the PS3 Im looking forward to the Next GTA game. That should be something special.

Also seen as the Ps3 is probably going to have the hardware edge, I'll probably end up getting games for like Splinter Cell games, Ninja Gaiden 2 (Hopefully) and other such top rated games.

According to video game industry analysts, prices will definetely increase to at least the $60-$65. The publishers have been testing consumer response to these prices by issuing out "special" or "premium" editions of games like Madden and Halo which cost more than the regular versions. So far, indications are that consumers are snapping up the limited or premium editions at a high enough rate to convince publishers that they will spend more for the next gen titles.
