I bought my PS3's(one for the bedroom and one for the living room) to play Blu-ray discs, so I'm quite pleased with the system thus far. A firmware upgrade enabling it to decode DTS HD-MA tracks and handle the upcoming PiP feature would make it damn near perfect. The only game I've played so far(not counting demos) is Virtua Fighter 5. And it kicks some serious ass. Of course, that's due out soon for the 360, so it won't be an exclusive title for long.
Doubt it. Maybe some sort of adjustment on the SKUs, but that would be about it (possibly price cuts for other regions if they haven't received one yet). Of course, it seems like price cuts <$50 are popular now, so who knows. But it would probably make more sense to do another price drop in early 08 (at the earliest).
Just bought that last nite and spent about an hour with it, very cool game! Almost lives up to it Goddess of War moniker that a lot of video game mags had given it. Like someone mentioned earlier, this thread is probably about 2 months too early, some heavy hitters are going to be coming out for the PS3, summer sucked but I've been keeping my PS3 busy watching Blu-Ray movies
Anybody play Stranglehold for Xbox? I'm seriously thinking about buying this game but it hasn't gotten the best reviews from what I've read.
Well, I played the demo, and I have to say, it really was a lot of fun, and you could definitely feel the John Woo influence in every second of the gameplay. There are several games either out now or coming soon that look like really well-made games, judging from the demos.. I really enjoyed Stranglehold, BioShock was impressive, even Timeshift looks impressive. And believe it or not, Stuntman: Ignition is incredibly fun. And of course that's not even counting the grandaddy of them all, Halo3. Mass Effect is also going to blow people away, I believe. Not to mention several games which have traditionally been exclusive Sony launch titles, such as GTA4 and Assassin's Creed, which was originally supposed to be Sony only at launch, but will now come out on both at the same time. When in doubt, just always know that the developers know where the money is, and there will be less and less 3rd-party exclusives as time goes on. And if you still haven't played Gears of War, man, that is one mighty piece of work. Some personal faves which would be worth looking at, especially if they are at 'bargain' prices: Dead Rising (man, it just doesn't GET any better than this) NFS: Carbon and Most Wanted. I like Most Wanted a little better though. Strangely, I was sadly disappointed by Fight Night 3 for 360. FN2 on Xbox is about 1000% better. Yes the graphics on 3 are better, but the game is simply nowhere near as fun. One other thing - maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think that 'hotly-anticipated game' Shadowrun has gone over like a lead balloon? Ah well. It's gonna be an interesting Christmas season, no doubt about it.
well Resistance Fall of Men, WarHawk *I love this game, and yes I am a beast in Zones and Capture the Flag...hell even Dogfight Im in top 3 most the time* ....and I own maybe 8 ps3 games but those are my favs. so far, Im getting Ghost Recon 2day.....and waiting for Assassians Creed.
Hmm... Starting to wonder if there might be more to this. Still don't think a price drop will be announced, but a new (cheaper) SKU might be likely...which is sort of what I said, but I was alluding to a new price for the 80GB SKU w/o Motorstorm. Basically, Sony has sent a new model to the FCC to approve (model# CECHG01). If you recall, we first got details about the 80GB SKU when Sony sent that in to the FCC to approve. Unlike that process but similar to the process for the launch models, Sony has requested that the FCC keep some things confidential until a later date (like photos of the outside, inside, etc.). Additionally, the FCC only tested 2 USB ports, while they tested 4 USB ports for the other models (so either this has fewer USB ports, or this is just a coincidence). The model also consumes a bit less power. Most likely just some tweaks to the hardware that may still require testing by the FCC (not sure how that all works), but a few things do you make you wonder. The rumblings elsewhere don't help either.
Do you think (if this is the rumored 20 gig version) they will start to talk more about an upgradeable hard drive? 450$ would be nice to see for the holidays or at least for MGS. I don't know if we'll see FF at the same time. I don't think they have talked about the title since that conference in japan right after E3. I think FF made an appearance but I can't remember. BTW, I'll upload the interviews from the Austin Game Developers Conference. It was a lot of fun. Most of the titles were MMOs. Heh heh, I got spock ears from the Star Trek MMO booth.
id like to get a ps3 for about 200, 250 tops. welcome to about 2010 baby... thats about how long that will take
Not sure I completely understand your question. The hard drive is already upgradeable. And FWIW, the rumors I hear say that a new SKU would use a 40GB SKU. Don't really know why they would go with 20GB/40GB rather than 60GB/80GB though since I think they would all cost about the same (of course, it would create a bigger gap between the SKUs, which might be desirable to Sony). Don't really know why they need a new SKU at all actually since I don't think they can really drop anything that would lead to a decent price cut (and BTW, the model being tested by the FCC does have WiFi). If there is any way Sony could price a SKU cheaper than what they already offer, it would make more sense to me to just apply those changes to the same SKU already out there. A color change might make sense...the request for confidentiality on photos might suggest that, although the label on the back is still black (no silver or white). FF13 (both of them) will be at TGS IIRC, at Square-Enix's closed theater IIRC. Which basically means they'll probably show the same trailer they've been showing, plus another 5 seconds of new footage that will never leave the theater (until SE wants it to be seen by the public of course). That's basically what they've done at every major event since they officially announced the game at E3 06 (though new details and screens have popped up from time to time). It seems to be a long ways off, although who really knows. It seems like Square-Enix is too busy thinking up creative ways to tease fans into thinking a FF7 remake might just happen (the stuff they did with FF7 Crisis Core is just cruel), rather than finish up development on some new games in the franchise. That would be cool. I think I saw an article where the guy behind FFXI talked a little bit about his next-gen MMO that is currently in-development. Not really into MMOs (FFXI is one of the few FF games I never played, or tried to play for that matter), but still some interesting stuff.
Maybe, but I'm fine with that. About a month ago, I bought a used PS2 with two controllers and 7 games for $50.
the bigs one of the best baseball games ive ever played just fun dont have to think too hard and press so many buttons
Sony is releasing a christmas special package which will include a 40gig model with spiderman 3 blu ray bundle to help push systems. A few online sources like Kotaku might suggest for $399
