I was going to mention that one as well because it was started by a sweet Mutombo rejection. Taken as a whole, I think that was my favorite sequence outside of the miracle comeback.

What was crazy was that T-mac's comeback was left off some "top individual star performance" (or something like that) list. they had iverson's 50pt games, a ridiculous KG statline, but somehow they left off the best moment of the season so far.

yao ming trailer on a feed from j.howard.

goes in for the two hand jam and mourning was trying to block the dunk from behind but gets pinned and falls to the floor.

you could hear the buzz from the new jersey nets crowd. yao hurt his shoulder on this play, and only scored 6 pts in the game, but it was still highlight reel material.

Yeah, can you imagine the hype if LeBron had done the same thing?

it was a wretched game, so maybe most of us forgot it...but McGrady's dunk on Kirilenko in late November was astounding.

by the way, did you notice everyone on the Rox bench jump up BEFORE Yao even dunked the ball??

The aftermath - Mourning just sat there on the ground wandering what the HELL happened...a little embarassed nonetheless.

I still respect Mourning though ... he defends every shot his opponents put up against him, even impossible to block dunks like these.

it would have been replayed ad-nasuem, espn classic would make it an instant classic and there would be a 30 min special dubbed "The King claims the Throne" about it.

Here's some lists from page C5 of this morning's Houston Chronicle Sport's Page. I couldn't find it on the web, so I typed it out.

Best moments
1. "McGrady for the win!" Tracy McGrady's 3-pointer against the Spurs completes a run of 13 points in 35 seconds.
2. A foul on Tim Duncan sets McGrady up for a four-point play to spark the run.
3. McGrady hits a jumper to beat the Sixers, ending a five game home skid.
4. Scott Padgett's week of winners. He hit a runner at the buzzer to beat the Knicks, then days later nails a 3-pointer to defeat New Orleans.
5. After booing McGrady all game, Magic fans head for the exits while he finishes a win with free throws.
Worst moments
1. Jamal Crawford banks in a 3 at the buzzer to lift the Knicks past the Rockets.
2. The blowing of an 11-point lead to lose to Atlanta.
3. Pistons I and Pistons II. Rockets are whipped in opener, then rolled over in second meeting to fall 6-10.
4. Bobcats I and Bobcats II. The Rockets lose to expansion team twice in a week. Said Tracy McGrady: "We're just not that good"
5. Stunned by the trade of Jim Jackson, the Rockets roll over in Milwaukee.
BEST PLAY NO ONE NOTICED

Yao Ming slams in an offensive rebound in the last minute against the Spurs, and Scott Padgett steals the ensuing inbounds pass and drives for a dunk to set up Tracy McGrady's scene stealing finish.

Best contributions from Rockets who aren't All-Stars
1. Bob Sura's attitude. The guy's competitiveness is seen in across-the-board numbers and how he plays hurt.
2. Davis Wesley's defense. His ability to match up with the quickest point gaurds or toughest 2s is valuable.
3. Juwan Howard's resurgence. He has four double-doubles in the winning streak.
4. Dikembe Mutombo's energy of the bench.
5. Jon Barry's decision making.
The entire game that Yao played against Indianna, after Jermaine O'Neal took some shots in the Indianna press about how Yao did not present a problem because he is so easy to push around.
