Short of a 100 year rain event like Harvey, has it ever happened in the regular season where an entire series worth of games had to be postponed/rescheduled? My guess is after the first failed night, they'd start the game as early as possible, to account for potential stoppages/delays. It never just rains continuously for 6-8h straight (again, minus those tropical storm like events...). I believe they did commission a study on the amount of revenue lost cumulatively every year for rain delays and postponements.... and it apparently did support a future mandate that all newer baseball stadiums should explore options of having a roof, and existing stadiums in high rain prone areas should consider being able to add one if structurally possible. They figured it out in tennis... and spent billions to retrofit some of those very old stadiums to have roof options.
Interesting trivia: https://thisdayinbaseball.com/phila...st 19, 1909, the,for the 10th consecutive day. On August 19, 1909, the Philadelphia Phillies set a major league record when they experience a rainout for the 10th consecutive day.
"no chance the Braves or Dodgers lose a game 5" to "puncher's chance" (which is not no chance). But then actual data suggests otherwise anyway:
We have better pitching than NY but they probably have a more potent lineup. We have better pitching and better hitting than Cleveland. That said, I’m sure either would be a dogfight for us.
it doesn't really matter. both teams have strengths and flaws. the "better matchup" is relative to who you would ask. the premier matchup is obviously NY and who I believe will win tonight anyway
I was thinking Cleveland gave us more problems than NY did, but I still want them to beat NY because Fu<k the Yankees
71% chance of rain tonight in NY Heavy rain at starting at 6pm, little window at 8pm, rain stops at 10pm. obviously things could change but… Would be terrible to have a rain delay or have to play tomorrow.
Weather this time a year is totally unpredictable. Woke up this morning and it was dark and gloomy. Sun came out and I went out and had a few margaritas outside on a deck. Tonight, who knows. Pretty sure the game will get played though.
I think a rain delay during the game, especially early may work to Clevelands favor. their bullpen has been solid and I'm worried Civale could get crushed early. Yanks have hit him well this year.
If its the Yankees, I get to go to a game. If its the Guardians, I get to have grudge match watching with my best friends who are from Cleveland. Win, win no matter what.
