With Marion, the Suns are a good team that poses matchup problems. It doesn't guarantee that they'll win the championship, but at least their style gives them a chance in every round. With Shaq, the Suns are a normal team. Which means that when they face a superior opponent, they have no chance.
Would you guys do this: Nash + picks for B. Jackson+Francis+Luther! Nash maybe aging but he still can play 30minutes of effective basketball and be a solid backup PG. Plus he is always a dead-eye shooter, someone the rockets team always needs. Why the Suns would do it? Cost saving and rebuilding mode! Why the Rockets would do it? To continue their Win Now mode! sad!
Suns just have a bad culture. Take the last play of the half for instance. Spurs had the ball with 4 seconds left and Suns knew Tony was getting the ball. Suns needed a stop badly going into halftime. They had 2 guys chasing Parker from behind full length of the court with no one stepping in front of him. Finally when he gets to the rim, Amare is there. What does he do? He just keeps his feet planted and watches Parker float the ball in. That is just inexcusable for a team with high ambitions. Suns coach, D'Antonio does not believe in defense. Suns leader, Nash, cannot play defense. Suns best player, Amare, has absolutely no interest in playing defense. Suns biggest player, Shaq, gets killed on pick and roll defense. Those 4 are top honchos for the Suns and all 4 are defensive liabilities. Spurs have exposed each and everyone one of them in the series so far.
You mean it's the curse of the Hill and McGrady, who doomed themselves even before they signed those cotnracts in Orlando. It was like fate knew.
Arrogance. The spurs are everything the suns are not. In what sense are they entitled to feel they are better the Spurs? Yeah, they almost took the Spurs, but on the other hand as poorly as the Spurs played in the 1st game they could still came away with a win. Total lack of intensity at the begining of this game by the suns. We are lucky to escape the Spurs "wall", which would crush us without mercy. That win over the suns in the regular season was crucial.
I don't see it. What is good for San Antonio doesn't necessarily mean it would be good for us. San Antonio has the weapons to do what they did. Most people, including myself, thought the spotlight would be on Tim Duncan since he would be going against Shaq and Stoudemire. It has been quite the contrary. This series has been the Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili show.
ICAM, Pop could scrip his offensive sets for the next game, hand them over to D'antoni and the Suns still couldn't stop them.
San Antonio's going to have a breeze getting to the finals now. I don't see any of the other teams giving them trouble after the way they've destroyed Phoenix. SA-Boston should be a great series.
As good as Nash is on offense he gives up just as much on defense. I think Nash just blew his slim chance of getting into the Hall of Fame.
I don't think they will have much trouble with Dallas or NO...everyone thinks the Lakers are the ones, but seriously doubt it. The Lakers are playing the hopeless Nuggets....I believe they come to earth whoever the play in the next round they will look like another team playoffs. Kobe might will them to 2 wins that's about it....They don't have answer for Duncan or Parker. That's awful deal for Nash. Phoenix could at least get draft pick for him.
Depends on the Suns being able to come in with intensity and focus for the entire game. The potential is there...............they also could use a better coach.
I really really really really really really don't understand the Diaw-centric offense in the close games to close out the 4th. D'Antoni is a r****d.
but it's worked so well. he doesn't make any aggressive move to get the shot, but makes up for it with risky and weak passes that generate nothing. how can you stop that? edit: wow, diaw actually did score. not sure why he's always posting up on the other block where he can't spin as easily like he just did.
