I still believe that the Rox can and will make the playoffs and with Hakeem and Rodgers back along with Cato in a couple of weeks we can make a strong run. Another thing is that Houston is only 5 1/2 games out of first place for the Midwest and no one in the Midwest has been able to get on any kind of roll. If the Rox can get like a 5 or 6 game winning streak and stay healthy I honestly believe they might be able to contend for the division title. Yeah it may be a pipe dream but I ALWAYS BELIEVE. If they can beat Denver and then Philly the next night then I think we are on our way to that streak. Denver will be the hardest but Philly I think cannot match up with us and they also dont have a bruiser for a forward or center. If you look at the teams the Rockets have luck with are those type of teams. Yeah Iverson will get 50 but so what as long at the Rockets win. how come you guys always seem to assume you have the best track to the playoffs while everyone is chasing you and its basically your spot to lose? us, seattle and minnesota have played tons of hard games too and weve only had like 12 games vs the east. you guys have a 1 in 4 shot like everyone else. its not like the rockets are a lock or cant fall either. ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Nugz, I don't know if you noticed, but this is a Rocket fan's site. Our favorite team is the Rockets therefore we will be optimistic of their cause and in some cases biased. Now, if you were paying attention to the posts, you would notice that no one guarantees anything. They point out that the Rockets have a .500 record with no inside presence and that with one our chances greatly improve. Also, with Seattle in turmoil and also no real inside presence and Denver's miserable road record, we have a real shot at surpassing those teams. I'd say at this point Minnesota would have to be favored to get into the 8th seed, but anything can happen. Why do you choose to post here if you are not a fan of the team? With Hakeem and Cato healthy we could definitely make the playoffs.. now it's just weather Dream comes back or not, and offcourse hard work and some luck would always have to be involved in success.. ------------------ against all odds
If I was handicapping the race, I'd have to pencil Denver in as the last playoff team. They've been playing inspired ball lately, and getting Kevin Willis was a major move in the short-term (long-term, losing Keon Clark is going to hurt). I think it will take 45 to 47 wins to make the playoffs, which means a record (for the Rockets) of 25 - 17 minimum. Ok and your point is .... j/k. Well you do know that your team is 6-6 against Eastern Conference teams while the Rox are 10-1. In February is where I see the Rox also making up ground since that is where they will be playing several E.C teams. Also another note. Denver is 6-12 on the road. 10 of the next 15 games are on the road. I think this will help out the Rox as well. There are a FEW people who think it is a probability, not the majority, so you can't judge the majority on the thoughts of a few. I guarantee that the majority of the people on the board have their doubts. We think the Rockets have a CHANCE, afterall this is a Rockets board, we're not going to say "We don't have a chance, lets forget the playoffs", when we're only 3 and a half back of the last spot that Denver holds AND have a game with Denver coming up! The Nuggets have been playing very well but they are peaking at the wrong time. Teams all have highs and lows and I can't imagine that they will be able to play this well for the rest of the season. I'm still not convinced that the Rockets WILL make the playoffs, but it isn't too far out of the realm of possibility. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
ok lemme add something. im not saying denver is better than houston. i will never say this until its completely obvious (same for houston over denver). 3 games with 41 left is nothing. im the biggets nugget skeptic ever...way bigger than any rocket fan. im also not saying we will win whenever we play (tomorrow?)...we might...i always hope so (DUH!). im also not saying we will make the playoffs or houston cant. i think denver, seattle, houston, minnesota all have 1/4 chance. what i am saying and what made me reply is the trent i see of (1) excuses applied for anything bad that happens to houston to explain it, while the same excuse could be used for alot of nba teams (convientely ignored) (2) justifying certain hopes for the season based on assumptions - not only for houston but for teams they are chasing. am i completely wrong? am i reading all these posts inaccurately? if so, i 100% apologize. I don't see excuses, people are saying that the Rockets have struggled because of youth and the lack of solid interior play aside from Mo and KT. Those aren't excuses those just happen to be true. I don't see any excuses that are being used for the Rockets on one side that is being used to bash another team on the other side. As for assumptions, what is wrong with going on the assumption that the Rockets, who are 10-1 against the East, will continue to succeed against the East while some teams that suddenly got hot will cool off a little bit? And some of the West teams, like Denver I believe, have actually STRUGGLED against the East, something people have brought up. I'm pretty sure Nugget fans are going on the assumption that the Rockets will be a .500 team all year long, which isn't necessarily true considering Denver's hot streak. Actually, I am just pissed that while both Dallas and Denver are playing great, and are the feel-good stories of the leeague, the Rockets continue to win, lose, win, lose, win, lose, lose, lose etc. I feel that this team is underacheiving, despite the injuries. I feel that with the talent they have, the Rockets SHOULD make the playoffs. I don't think they should contend for the playoffs, they should just make it. I am frustrated with the quality of the coaching and the play of the former sixth man shooting guard. Hopefully for the Rockets, the next few "easy" months will yield the results I am looking for. One frustrating thing, Rudy has said that he has no expectations for the team. If that is the case, then he is just being a lazy coach. He should EXPECT to make the playoffs, not have a distant hope. He seems contented to just go on "learning" for a few more years. No offense Nugz, but look how long it has taken the Nuggets to "learn".
