It is not too difficult to understand. Let me say this way: Brooksball meant - the Rox don't have a good chance to make the playoffs, or the Rox only have very little chance to make the playoffs. Most posters meant - the Rox do have a good chance to make the playoffs. It is so clear that who is right, who is wrong. It is obvious. Please don't tell me you can see it.
Fine, then I won't (because I don't). His prediction - the Rockets won't make the playoffs. His delivery - hyperbolic. THAT'S what I see. I'm sure most agree that at that point of the season it was very bold to predict the Rockets not to make the playoffs. However, at this point of the season nobody has been proven right or wrong. And it's not a matter of chances; don't take his original comments too literally, as he later clarified his stance (or is that flip-flopping?!?). Literally, EVERY team that is not mathematically eliminated has a "chance" of making the playoffs.
I probably played a lot more bball than you did growing up. I'm not the loser or the super sensitive one around here. It's rather quite the opposite, man people in here are overly sensitive about hearing an opinion that is critical of the Rockets.
dude, ya need to chill out and just say "Yeah, wow, i was totally wrong there - thank goodness for that!" and laugh it off. Take a time out man.
I didn't rub anything in anybody's face. That is just what you want to believe so you can add to your weak argument. I think it's too early to say I was wrong. We are closer to being in 9th place than 1st place. Things could be just as bad as they are good in a week from now. The season isn't over yet and the truth of the matter is that the vast majority of games we played in the past 20+ games have been against weak teams. Go back and look at the opponents. The NO win was huge and made me start doubting my OP for the first time. If I see a couple more solid games like that one, I will eat my words. Let's see how the Rockets play against some of the other big dogs of the West.
I had the Warriors in a group with us fighting for the last spot. I didn't say they were SO MUCH BETTER, just better, and I still feel the same way. Same goes for Denver.
I've gone over this before. When I said "no way", "no chance", I meant I strongly don't believe they will make the playoffs. I was frustrated as a Rockets fan to see how deep the West had become this season and to realize that the Rockets were a notch below many of the other teams (not just in the standings but also in their general talent level).
Nothing to give in to yet. People are acting like my prediction was wrong with 27 games left in the season and just a few games separating the top 8 teams in the standings. Our schedule is much tougher going forward that it has been since the turn of the year. Just because they rode an easy stretch of games into the 7th spot, I'd like to see a few more wins against teams like NO before I eat my words.
Hey BrooksBall, I have the perfect song for you: Journey - Don't Stop Believing <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ip1zsUIosoA&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ip1zsUIosoA&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Moral of the thread: Don't stop beleiving and don't give up so easily. This can be applied to real life situations and not just basketball talk.
You still didn't get it. He also meant all other 8 teams have a much much better chance to make the playoffs than the Rox's. It is tricky and ironic. It is so funny that you can't see it. I can tell something from it. .
Cohen, you are starting to make me laugh now. I really upset you when I pointed out how wrong you were about the Lakers, huh?
