The ironic twist in this thread has to be one of the most memorable moments in my clutchfans lurking career. The same pack chastising BrooksBall for making bold and premature predictions are also completely sure, at this point of the season, that the Rockets will make the playoffs; regardless of the fact that there still is a significant number of games left and they need to make top 8 in an extremely competitive Western conference. The Rockets play, as of late, has been championship caliber. Let’s see if they can keep it up.
That's not irony in the least. A.) Any NBA fan (let alone Rockets fan) should have thought it a farfetched idea that the Rockets would miss the playoffs this season if they even stayed close to healthy. B.) None of these people are making threads boldly guaranteeing a division title, or a championship. C.) Even if they were, so f***ing what? That's what fans are supposed to do. A homer is a helluva lot better fan than a stubborn pessimist who would seemingly rather be right than have his team to well. ... That is, unless BB is really just trying to reverse-jinx the Rockets into success. But if that's the case, that just makes him an overly superstitious fool rather than a horrible fan (and a bit of an asshat). It's really a lose-lose. Nobody should be standing up for him.
That's not the whole story. His weren't just opinions, they were proclamations, starting from early in the season, and the poster kept rubbing people's faces in his opinion as if they were already fact. So we could classify his persona here as: 1. Obnoxiously arrogant; 2. Quitter; 3. Wrong (we're not in the playoffs yet, but what he said was we had 'No Way'; that is already wrong). How would you classify those who thought we would make the playoffs? 1. Optimistic; 2. Loyal fan; 3. Likely, correct. Wow, you find irony there?
Opinion noted. Like I said, if the Rockets streak is still intact come the Nuggies game on the second of March, we know we have something special going on here. Then, the next two games at Dal-ASS and the Bees come to TC. If the streak is STILL going then ... hello the sky's the limit! Frankly though, IMHO this team is starting to hit a stride, a scary one for their opponents. We are a lot more balanced as a team then, we were last year despite similarities in the record comparisons. T-Mac doesn't have to score 25-30 points now for us to win but, if he does more than likely we definitely WILL win! Most of this streak, the Rockets have just been grinding through games and getting wins. They really have not been playing well and yet, they still win! After last game in NO, they REALLY opened some eyes in the national media. The $64,000 question is ... can the Rockets handle success and the accolades that come with being one talked of in the elite status of the NBA? Potentially, the only team that may be able to derail their success is them! They're getting that good, that fast!
You're kidding, right? The NO game was a thing of beauty. Against a premiere team, both teams played extremely well...we traded many blows, and they crumbled and we rolled.
If we go on a 3-game losing streak we will not make the playoffs(knock on wood) We are not there yet fellas......
Just because it cracks me up every time I see this thread hanging around on the front page. Way to go out on a limb BrooksBawl. A classic moment in waiting.
No Cohen, I was referring to earlier in the winning streak. Wins in Milwaukee, Indy and Minnesota! Not great, not even good performances but, finding ways to win despite all that. Wholeheartedly agree, the NO game was a thing of beauty, a complete dismantling and I enjoyed every minute of it! Quite possibly in fact was the MOST complete game the Rockets may have EVER played going back to the Clutch City championship years! That second quarter was an absolute defensive clinic! Unbelievable!
Ha ha! Hey BrooksBomb, why don't you change your username to ... BrooksSheba, the Anti-black cat! Because, your curses seem to have a reverse effect on those you inflict! I nominate BrooksBomb for the official clutchfans comic relief poster of the year award! ROTF! LOL!!!
How can certain posters be asking BrooksBall to eat crow at THIS point of the season and you not find it ironic? Like another poster just said, if the team falls into even a small 3-4 game losing streak, they could be out of the top 8. You do realize that we started the season looking like world beaters and then went into a horrible drought that had posters asking for everybody's head on the team not named Yao? As far as being a fan is concerned, I disagree. I consider myself a fan because I follow the team, I CARE how they do and am enthusiastic about their play. That does not mean that I cannot take a look at their situation and be able to make objective opinions about them. Please don't get me wrong, this team looks amazing right now. If they keep up this level of play, I'm confident they can beat anybody. I am very interested to see how they will do in March when their schedule gets tougher.
This issue is still undecided...but honestly it looks bad for the OP......as this run of wins is significantly different than the 6-1 start. Different players, different energy, different style... This team......is believable.... DD
You are saying there is a chance the rockets could miss it Brooksball said there was no chance for the Rockets to make it. It's an absolute.
I don't find irony in anything but what I stated to be ironic... I agree his delivery in the original post makes his prediction sound like a proclamation. However, I think he cleared that up in subsequent posts saying "it's just an opinion" and that he hopes "he is proven wrong". The point is, at this point of the season, it's too early to tell who has been *proven* wrong and who has not.
Yea he flip flopped after everybody started giving him crap. He said NO WAY. He's already been proven wrong regardless of the outcome.
Yeah, because I'm BrooksBall OTHER username, that has been registered and lurking these forums since Feb 2004. I've been unmasked... To use my "real" tone of voice now that the truth has been revealed, I'll go on record and say: I don't agree with the original poster's predictions. However, there is NO WAY I point out with complete certainty that he was wrong.
