I was being a dick in that post. I acknowlege that. That was a case where I was acting like you are now.
Sir Jackie-I know this is kinda disrespect on my part, but damn man, Brooks just seems to feed on this stuff. It's painfully obvious that he's provoking it. I just don't wanna see you fall into the trap...that guy makes people angry, and from the looks of things, you're angry. Sometimes, it is better to walk away when you're the better man.
Your assumption is incorrect. Kid, you need to learn that you do not need to respond to every single post with a pseudo-clever rebuttal. Take the advice and be quiet. Do not respond.
I predict this thread will be locked. that's a 100% guaranteed prediction. put me on record BrooksBall, your next post better be about basketball!
No worries, he's not trapping me - it's just that he's been allowed to keep doing his schtick here in this thread for so long that it is better someone brings it to the point where it boils over before he thinks he can just keep going on and on and on. Well, that's the idea behind what I'm doing here, sort of.
I'm not going to take the time to go through all the posts you cited but I GUARANTEE they were all in response to somebody else that got away from basketball talk. I did not start anything.
Brooks, we get you point - you don't think that the Rox will make the playoffs. OK by me if that's what you feel but I would suggest that you are being a bit premature because there's still an awful lot of basketball yet to be played and anything can happen. Look at LA: they were rolling along and surprisingly so due to the fact that Bynum came out of nowhere to elevate his game and give them the inside presence they desperately needed. Now he's hurt and the Lakers are sliding once more. If they, Portland or GS slip, then that should be enough for the Rox to slide into the playoffs. Anything can happen. Just remember that it ain't over until it's over and that won't be until April.
You just made three posts in a row in your own thread. That isn't cool BBS etiquette. Just an FYI. Of course, you've been told this a few times. Oh, and you have 83 posts in this thread. That is simply ludicrous.
Also, pay attention to SA, NO & Dallas. Something is just not right with either team. SA appears to have gotten a bit complacent and they simply can't expect Manu & Duncan to continue to bail them out every night. The Mavericks have completely abandoned even the pretense of a post game. They are so vulnerable in the post that the Rox with Yao Ming should be able to exploit that weakness at will (once they get their act together). Trust me: the Mavericks can be had by the Rockets. And NO is also extremely weak in the post as well. The Rockets have yet to fully play to their strengths on a consistent night in-night out basis and that's why you see their record hovering around .500. It's really all there for them if these players just pull their heads out of their asses and start playing some serious basketball.
I defintely don't see those three teams going anywhere. Duncan and Ginobili have not been bailing them out every night. In fact, both of them missed significant time this season yet SA is still near the top of the standings. They did get blown out at home by NO last night which says a lot about NO, another team that has something not right with them, according to you. NO is the real deal. I don't know how far they can go in the post-season but they are clearly a playoff team. Other than Paul going down with an injury, I can't imagine them not in the playoffs. Dallas, as usual, is lacking in the frontcourt but that hasn't stopped them from being an elite team in the past. It is probably a significant reason why they have been so good but have yet to win a championship or get to more than one finals. Bass has been a surprise off the bench (similar to Landry has been for us recently) but they definitely have a glaring weakness when it comes to capable big men. As in the past, I don't see this weakness as significant enough to allow us to finish ahead of them. If anything, it will just keep them from going deep in the playoffs or winning it all. I don't think it's so much a matter of the Rockets pulling their heads out of their asses as it is about the Rockets needing consistent play out of their role players. We won a bunch of games recently, but nights like tonight show the other side of the story. The best chance the Rockets have of becoming dangerous this season would require a significant trade. Until that happens, I think the Rockets are still missing a piece to contend with the big boys... all 8 of them .
Just to clarify, I meant that I don't see SA, NO or DAL slipping much from where they currently are in the standings. If anything, NO's youth will cost them a bit down the stretch, but not enough to fall out of the playoff race. SA and DAL, as usual, will likely end up in the top four spots. SA's window of dynastic dominance is closing but they aren't done yet.
brooksball, You are the type of guy who watches the game and says the following: "Shane sucks he cant score nor can he jump" "Scola is getting man handled he can't jump" "We NEED RICKY DAVIS" "Yao ming SUCKS" "Rafer do your little floater" "I wanna see luther head at pg... thats what the rockets need" "Aaron Brooks should start!" "Yao ming is weak and cant dunk" i bet you have said more then 4 of these in one game
I sense something different about SA this year. I can't quite put my finger on it just yet as they may just be doing their usual "lying in the weeds" routine until February but I've noticed how they appear to not be responding to Popovich's sense of urgency like in years past. Maybe it's just hopeful thinking on my part but I would not be surprised one bit if they end up falling short in the playoffs. This is the team of which I remain skeptical. They look good now but my gut feeling is that they will fade. If that happens, then I believe that the Rox will be in the playoffs. Funny thing about Dallas. I think that they've maxed out. Their big chance was 2 seasons ago and they flat out blew it. Since then, they have yet to address the weakness in their makeup that allowed Miami to beat them. In fact, they have gotten worse. For example, in the past 4 games I've watched they have gone into the post only 3 times. I find that amount of offensive imbalance amazing which is why I believe that if the Rox were to really exploit their advantage there, they could make a little hay at the Mavs expense. That alone would be definitive proof that they have turned the proverbial corner in this division. The talent gap between them and the Rox is smaller than many folks believe. You know, you and others who share this viewpoint may very well be right. But I still see games (like the one last night) where they come out and go through the motions and end up with an "L". That was one more winnable game that they let get away and I feel it's due to their lack of focus and mental toughness. Too many times they appear to be looking for excuses to lose instead of buckling down and playing the damn game at hand. This may be unfair to say but they appear to take their cue from TMac on far too many nights and that's what I find to be disturbing. I see them as being a lot like the Lakers except that their superstar plays with far more drive and determination to than does our superstar. I still believe that they have the players to be far better than what they've shown and that their biggest problems lie between their ears and in their chests (although some here would add between their legs...).
a loss on Tuesday night might spell disaster for the rockets playoff hopes.............and I'm thinking they will lose................therefore they won't be going to the playoffs this season...........
looking at it right now. we will probably be fighting the number 8 seed with portland down the road. which may not be a bad idea, as we would probably be facing the hornets with no playoffs experience. (which could be bad, since we always lose to them for some reason) I foresee the portland the only team that will most likely slip and start to losing games. they are still too young of a team with to play pass consistently after the all-stars. another team that will slip are the lakers. kobe without byrum for about 2 months will be something to watchout for. Hornets Dallas Suns Denver Spurs Warriors Jazz Rox vs Portland
Without a trade and playing like they did last few games, playoffs are a no show. We will probably go to 38-44 and be 10/11. Sorry but you've got to face facts: we have a mediocre team with a bright future for 3 rookies, 2 all stars, good defence but not the chemistry, the three point shot, the FTs, the motion offence, the talent to totally blow teams out of the building, the all out hustle (except for a few), the leadership or the mentality to go for it this year. I'm only talking about what i saw the last few games so as of RIGHT NOW, things can always change and i hope they do. However in a few years i think if RA is given the chance this team can build a fresh team around Yao with rookies, new blood, no McGrady and we can be a really good team again.
