Carmelo Anthony injured! Wincing on the floor on TNT! Looks like the Lakers are going to continue winning so lets hope Melo is out for a while.
Dude, you are the urban definition of a "homer" (I didn't make this up): 5. homer. Someone who shows blind loyalty to a team or organization, typically ignoring any shortcomings or faults they have. "That guy is a total Broncos homer, they haven't done anything good all season!" (Source: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=homer)
Everybody needs to chill out. Portland and Golden State will finish 9 and 10. We'll grab the 8 seed and win the playoffs.
wow.some guys here are unbelievable, how can someone wish that for other players?it's disgusting, argh i hate that s..t. every year some people here wish that some player get hurts. please don't ever say that you support the houston rockets. wow just wow
BTW, don't you think that showing a monk praying when talking about winning basketball games is somewhat absurd?
I think the one thing you're not taking into account is strength of schedule we had a tough one out the the gate and the Lakers for example have only played 17 road games while we've already played 22. Except for Golden State no one has played more winning teams on the road than we have. This is a little too pessimistic, and it will take us putting together a 10 (or so) game winning for us at some point, but we're well in the mix. I think how we finish out this month will be a pretty good litmus test, we have to go on the road and beat this Seattle team again tomorrow then three conference games against Portland, Utah and Golden State. We're 7-3 in January if we win three out of these four remaining games we'll be 10-4. Which is more or less the pace I think we'll need to maintain.
You noticed? Good for you! As absurd as saying our chances are toast, when we're one game back in the loss column from Utah and Golden State, with an entire half of the season still to play. But hey, I'm sure you have at least another 30 posts to throw into "defending" your position. Go for it!
Deckard, If you think that BrooksBall is a fool, remember that it's better to listen to a fool than to engage one. I for one agree with BrooksBall that it's foolish for even a die-hard Rockets fan like myself to assume that we're going to the playoffs at this point, although I stop well short of making some predilection that we won't. Maybe in the future you can assume that BrooksBall is an ardent fan (albeit a frustrated one) much like yourself, and that the number of diatribe-laden posts in a thread like this can be cut down if you'd open a response to frustrated fan's post with an assuaging comment like "I see your point, but...". -P1st, S2nd
Problem is you've been stating your opinion as fact, even already claiming 'success' in your earlier claim that we wouldn't make the 8th seed. And lay off the 'realism' angle; it fails miserably. It is just as realistic to assume our team can succeed over these other teams during the run for the playoffs. You harp on what the other teams have done, yet we just recently started seeing signs of a good offense taking shape, 3 rookies improving rapidly and taking on minutes, weathered a TMac injury, hav seen a more productive Head and much more productive Alston... and a Yao who's starting to Dominate.... we've beaten good teams with and w/o TMac ... and we're just 2 games out of 8th. I see NO reason to quit on this team. As others have noticed, you are far more interested in proving your pessimistic assessment right than in the success of the Rockets.
Racist....saw "tha" in my name and quickly said urban...man...after MLK day i thought we would have maybe got somewhere.... Just playin. But damn, excuse me for being optimistic...and trust i know we've had our fair share of **** ups and then some...doesn't mean i cant believe in my squad.
It's ridiculous to guarantee the Nuggets are a playoff lock. It's a fact that they have a chance to be in the playoffs, but they also have a chance to be in the lottery. Nuggets have a one game lead over lottery bound 9th seed. That's far from guaranteed. They have lost 4 straight road games.
With the West as tightly bunched as it is now, Denver, Portland, Golden State, Utah and Houston are five teams fighting for the last three playoff spots (of course, one of the top five could still slip too...) If I had to predict, I'd say Denver and Houston are the odd men out but we've got a half season ahead of us to watch it play out!
I would rather be pessimistic at this time, and say the Rockets won't make the playoff this season, let them prove me wrong with the wins.
You're just bitter because you thought I was nuts for making a similar assessment early in the season. You thought my opinion was way off and that the Rockets were better than several of the teams who have proven to be legit since that point. I didn't harp at all on what other teams have done. I said early on that this was just my gut sense of how things will play out. I am not psychic. This is just my opinion. I shouldn't need to explicitly state that whatever I say is my opinion. People should know that as I am obviously not God. BTW, somebody that follows the NBA for a living seems to have the same gut feeling about who will finish in the top 8: http://sportsline.com/columns/story/10597842/1
