Playoffs James Harden Vs. Regular Season James Harden

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by Mr. Dominant, Aug 26, 2020.

?

Will James Harden change?

  1. YES, his career is far from over & he‘ll soon lead Houston to the finals/win a championship.

  2. YES, his career is far from over & he‘ll soon lead Houston to the finals/win multiple championships.

  3. NO, he will continue having only regular season success.

  4. NOT SURE, someone cursed the Rockets after Houston won back to back championships in 1994/1995.

Chris Paul’s 2nd year in Houston he posted his worst win share and win shares per 48 of his career. Worse than his rookie and sophomore year.

    Injuries clearly hampered his play.

He was never washed, just injured. That is just something “clutchfans” likes to tell themselves to justify the Westbrook trade and delude themselves into think we would easily walk over a CP3 led team in the playoffs.

    you’re so clueless

CP3 in 17-18 was a top 10 player and 1 of thr most impactful players in the league

    18-19 CP3 was nowhere close and wasn’t even a top 20 player

19-20 CP3 is better than 18-19, but still not close to 17-18

same record with worse point differential, and lucky that his team didn’t get swept without Russ..,give Chris Paul a medal

Except we could. The Rockets have only themselves to blame that this series wasn’t a sweep.

Maybe. But there is absolutely no denying that the majority of clutchfans greatly exaggerated the demise of CP3 after last season.

And then they finished the season with the same record as us and we are now 2-2 in a playoff series against them.

So many were positive he was done and this series would be a breeze. Neither are true.

But it is absolutely clear that expecting Harden to win with what CP3 was giving us as our 2nd best player in year 2 is ridiculous. It was probably the worst season of his career.

No, we automatically assume the Rockets were going to be the Cavs. Much better, deeper team.

Why not? It's bragging rights. He's loves to hoop, whether its exhibition or real games. He obviously cares about his image, and his standing in relation to his peers.

Why would Harden be the sort who takes those games less seriously than other participants?

2 things I’ve learned about the Rockets over the last nearly 30 years. Nothing ever comes easy for this team and nothing is ever guaranteed. Ever.

he literally had 1 of the worst years of his career last season...he’s better now, but last season, he wasn’t even a top 30 player

regular season record doesn’t mean much to me...Rockets had a better point differential and changed their roster mid-season...there’s a reason why the Rockets have the 3rd best odds to come out of the West, and OKC definitely does not despite their record

this series should’ve been a breeze...up 5 with less than a minute left in game 3...had a free throw that could’ve won it

up by 15 late in the 3rd in game 4, but proceed to shoot 3-17 from 3 in the 4th and play incredibly stupid

OKC shot 49% from the field in game 4, their guards combined for 76 points, and they had 18 more free throw attempts than us, yet they were only up by 1 in the closing possessions even tho the Rockets were in the midst of finishing the game missing 21 of their final 26 threes

in game 3, they shot 52% from the field and 37% from 3...their guards combined for 78 points...we shot 15-50 from 3 which is just 30%...they still lose if House makes a free throw

OKC is playing about as well as they possibly can, while we are playing below average and incredibly stupid, and that is what it takes for them to barely squeak out victories even without Russ...this series should’ve been a breeze, but the Rockets are stupid

I don't really want to argue it. I was just asking the question whether anything could be drawn from it as far as how he'd perform on a "super team" setting. But you don't think so, and that's fine.

Your joking right? Kawhi left and the team was on pace to win more games than when they had him. And they just swept the first round...

he managed to guard everyone that went at him in the 4th and then hit the game winner before [by gawd that's marc davis's music] marc davis [/by gawd that's marc davis's music] ran in from 30 feet away to call an offensive foul the ref 5 feet away didn't. the rest of the game he pretty clearly dgaf.

Thanks for pitching in and discussing y’all! I haven’t posted a thread in a very long time due to being sad from our last 2 GSW matchups... but it makes me happy that y’all are engaging and posting in my thread and giving it valuable content to talk about! As always, hoping for a successful post-season...
