Tim would probably say something to the effect of "try to get an inernship or a MA position within the Rockets organization first and then work your way up to the top." I not sure if Tim has an assistant yet but I heard he needed one. Yeah I'm in the same boat as you Rocketfan I'm looking for a job within the Rockets marketing department also.
oj411.. thanks. I'm not looking for a job right now with the Rockets or anything (especially since I'm out of state and haven't graduated yet). I just had a general question to ask regarding not really even marketing but just front office jobs in general within sports teams.
lala .. I doubt that. I'd imagine come playoff time all the seats that are sold to corportations where people dont show up.. the people will show up during the playoffs. I don't have the numbers or anything, but based on things I've read, and Tim talking about very few seats left for the remaining games it appears that they sell most the seats. It's a matter of some people who have seats not showing up, and I fully expect the toyota center to be full and rocking come playoff time.
The first round of the playoffs will actually be tougher to sell out than the last three games of the regular season. The short lead time is the toughest issue. And because the date for the game isn't known until very late, group sales are almost impossible. A number of people (some who have posted here) don't want to buy until the date and opponent is assured. I think we'll have strong attendance. But the truth is that in the playoffs, NBA teams are a lot more reliant on individual game buyers than we are during the season. And although I'm pretty confident that individual game ticket sales will be very strong, they need to be great for a team to sell out the first round. That said ... get yer tickets and help us pack the house.
Hmm, I got a code to get presales but doesnt seem to work at the moment, wont even let me input the password and just says "Invalid Code".
DC, I need help What do you do if you want the $40 tickets at the lower level but the online system only directs you to upper level $40 tickets.
Out of curiousity, who actually got tixs to the game? I went to the Viewing Party on Friday and only saw maybe a handful of people that had wristbands on. I actually purchased a Playoff package and bought 4 more for the first game just in case anybody else I knew wanted to go. I just went to the website and they showed plenty of tixs available. I guess people are waiting for us to clinch a spot first.
I got my tickets to Game A (Game 3 first round) on Saturday at noon. If we win either game 1 or 2, I'll be buying tickets to game 4 also.
...well, at least the Rockets will do their part in saving the rainforests by not having to print any playoff tickets...
Tim; I know you're doing your job but I really wish people wouldn't talk about the playoffs like we are in them already. I think we jinxed the Rox 2 weeks ago when we were taking it for granted that we would make the playoffs.
Selling tickets isn't the same as taking the playoffs for granted. Two options -- (1) start selling with two weeks left in the season, or, (2) wait until a potentially late clinch date and take a very big risk of having a half empty arena. Say we started selling late and had a half empty bowl for the first game. Do you really to be in a situation where the bowl was half empty and somebody asks why you didn't do more to sell tickets? And your answer is "we didn't know if they were going to make it"? Tim
