edit: now i'm not even sure below is possible, but I think so... 1 Rockets 2 Warriors 3 Blazers 49-33 (win against jazz) 4 Pelicans 48-34 (win against spurs) 5 Jazz 48-34 (win against warr, loss @ blazers) 6 Thunder 48-34 (win against Grizz) 7 Spurs 47-35 (loss @ pelicans) 8 Timberwolves 46-35 (win against nuggets)
I'd just like to see another team give the Warriors a run for their money.. I'd like the Pels for the Rockets to be honest, Davis can't score enough to beat the Rockets.. Aldridge is scarier imo.. still have lingering effects of watching him look like Chamberlain against Rockets... *sigh* RIP TJones
Spurs/Pelicans have 87.5% chance to play Rockets first round Wolves 12.5% chance to play Rockets first round Everyone else 0% chance each.
If Utah and OKC win tonight then ... Best case scenario - Minn win and SA win. Worst case scenario - Denver win and SA loss. We really want a Minn win, because GS will play Denver if Denver wins and we could face SA. If Denver wins, we play the loser of NO/SA If Minn wins we play either Minn or NO. Portland and Utah play a late game and everything else should be determined by the time their game is over. Both teams might want to lose to avoid Warriors in the second round, since who they play in the first round will be already determined.
No sh** sherlock. The only way we know who's playing style will face off against another is based on the way the seeding falls. Gawd you Spurs fans really are obtuse af.
Assuming OKC and Utah win tonight. According to ESPN matchup predictor: Minnesota has a 65% chance to beat Denver. New Orleans has a 53% chance to beat San Antonio. Minn win (65%) and NO win (53%) we play SA = 34.45% Denver win (35%) and NO win (53%) we play SA = 18.55% Minn win (65%) and SA win (47%) we play Minn = 30.55% Denver win (35%) and SA win (47%) we play NO = 16.45% 53% chance we play SA, 30.55% Minn and 16.45% NO.
so I'll repeat myself... seedings don't matter as much as match ups do. The Spurs lost as a1st seed to an 8th seed because they were a bad match up for them.
Not sure if it's been answered, but does OKC have any chance of matching up with GS in the first round?
Imagine this timeline: The Rockets matched up against an aging Spurs team in the 1st round who are missing Kawhi Leonard and get destroyed. I'm not sure the Rockets could recover mentally if this happens. Nor would the media ever stop talking about it.
Warriors still have 5 possible matchup sin the playoffs. Crazy, this late in the season. No. 4 Utah (47-33) — Tuesday vs. Warriors, 6 p.m. NBC Sports Bay Area; Wednesday at Portland, 7:30 p.m. ESPN. No. 5 New Orleans (47-34) — Wednesday vs. San Antonio, 5 p.m. No. 6 San Antonio (47-34) — Wednesday at New Orleans, 5 p.m. No. 8 Minnesota (46-35) — Wednesday vs. Denver, 5 p.m. No. 9 Denver (46-35) — Wednesday at Minnesota, 5 p.m. Thunder have zero chance to finish 7th seed.
