They'll be a year older too. If they had Perkins clogging up the middle and meshing with KG defending the paint for THESE playoffs, they might have beaten the Heat. As it was, Wade and LeBron took turns attacking the rim.

The Celtics door is closed. They won't be a legit contender next season.

I don't think the trade for Perkins hurt the Celtics as much as people are saying it did. Of course the injury to Shaq didn't help but an overweight/past his prime Shaq was similar to Perk in terms of grabbing rebounds and clogging the paint. At this point in their careers Perk is a much better man defender but it's not like the Heat had a worthy center to defend anyways.

You pick your poison with Wade and LeBron because they're that good. If they're not burning you by attacking the rim they're burning you from the perimeter. I think the Celtics thought process was since we have Shaq and Jermaine... Perk became a a bit more expendable in order to shore up the wing defense.

Supposedly as bad as the trade may have been LeBron would've had an even bigger field day if the Celtics didn't at least have Green defending him.

the celtics lost this series on offense, not defense.

the heat played subpar offensively for most of the series. they couldn't score in the 4th AT ALL in the last 2 games.

The Celtics were close in games 4 and 5 and having Perkins in the middle to making things more difficult on some of the drives could have made the difference.

They never regained their team chemistry after the trade. Not saying they definitely would have beaten Miami if it hadn't happened, but they had no chance at all with a disjointed team where not all the players trusted and felt comfortable with each other.

in game 4, the celtics allowed 17 points in the 4th quarter. they scored 13 points.

the heat shot 8/23 with 5 turnovers in that 4th quarter. the celtics shot 6/23.

in game 5, you take out the 16-0 run explosion (primarily b/c the celtics could not score and can't build momentum), they were shutting down the heat's offense once again.

they played superb defense on the heat considering they have the 2 best players on the planet. but when your offense fails you repeatedly, you simply can't put that much pressure on your defense.

the celtics had 4-5 minute stretches in the 4th in both games where they could not score.

perkins would help, but if they struggled to score like this, it wouldn't matter.

If you knock LBJ out- he angrily leaves the court, doesn't shake your hand.

If LBJ knocks you out- celebrates like he just won a championship.

So an all-star team beats up on a senior citizen MASH unit. Am I supposed to be impressed by that?

So did the media talk about the Boston players that left the court without shaking hands?

If LBJ loses a playoff series and walks off the court without shaking hands, it's given more coverage than the actual playoff series that just ended.

If all but two members of the Boston Celtics do the same thing, it's barely mentioned at all.

If LBJ _____, it's given more coverage compared to another player in the Celtics.
