I liked the 5 game series, I thinl only the NBA Finals should be a 7 game series.

I dont like the divisions, I would change it to only two conferences.

I like the original idea. Perhaps it should be that the 3 division winners get to pick from the bottom 3 seeded teams. Or, from the bottom 4, and the 4th seeded team (the best non-division winner) is just stuck with whatever opponent the other 3 didn't pick.

I think it'd be interesting when an underdog that was avoided in round 1 makes it to round 2. If Dallas avoided the Warriors this season, it'd give the Warriors some psychological edge when they did finally meet.

I like this idea. ALOT. We only play east teams twice, so if there were possible matchups cross-conference, it'd make rivalries nationwide. Instead of the typical, houston hates jazz/mavs/spurs/phoenix, we'd have a mixed bag of opponents. In the end, the BEST teams come out, regardless of conference. I mean...people all over the board were saying "crown the winner of the san antonio/phoenix game". come on, thats jsut the winner of the 2nd round for crying out loud. It needs to be a grind out, PURE matchup of records, and I'd drop it down to 5 game series straight. Less travel, more intense, and better television.

I like the idea. In fact, I'd go further. The team with the best record picks any team first. (They can pick the second best team if they want.) The highest of the remaining teams picks second, and so forth.

Regular season records should mean more than just a nominal playoffs position. That would also reduce the number of "meaningless" games toward the end of the season.

the reason i protected the first 3 seeds is that lets say this year nash went out for 2 weeks with an ankle injury on the last day of the season. dallas may try and knock off phoenix early but would that really be fair to phoenix after playing the whole season second best to be forced to play dallas the first round....

i just suggested this pick your opponent thing to prevent teams like dallas getting screwed because golden state turned it on at the end of the season (lets face it often the number 8 team comes into the playoffs hotter than the number 6 or 7)

after the first 3 teams pick an opponent their would only be 2 teams left - so of course they would play each other. however the #4 team could certainly be picked as an opponent for teams #1-3

    I love that idea bronxfan.

The picking of opponents could even be a live event unto itself, kinda like the draft. It would be fun to see.

I would have a unified Playoffs first and foremost. I think the divisions/conferences should stay the same, since the balance changes around.

It would be so much better for the league, fans can see different teams instead of just the same.

The imbalance between the conferences will be minimized

It'd be fair to Dallas. They earned the right to get advantages in the playoffs. What is the point of playing 82 games with minimal rewards for winning?
