I got a weird feeling that this team will do major damage in the playoffs. For some weird reason, I think if they meet Dallas in the 2nd round, Dallas should think long and hard about the ass-whooping they are going to get from us even if they happen to win. A tough loss in the second round is the minimum for me. But for some reason, I think the Rockets might make the WCF if Dallas is the second round. I hope I don't end up eating my words. But Dallas plays alot of half-court basketball. And you can argue that there isn't a better half-court team in the NBA right now than the Rockets are.
I would hope we could beat Phoenix more than we could Dallas. Cause hate Phoenix and the media act like their greatest thing since the slice of bread. I hope we play them in the conference finals and semi finals and sweep them 4 games.
Clutch, you do know we all want to know what you think in this poll. I know you are the poll master and you like to collect comments to use again if a poster gets stupid on you ... but toss us a bone here. we want to know what you think!
It's hard for me to say. If we lose to Dallas or the Suns, I won't be mad because we're almost supposed to lose to those 2 teams. If we lose to SA, will I feel bad? Probably. But would I think we choked? No. Unless we get swepts or destroyed convincingly by them, that is. I have to temper "when we lose" with "who we lose to". We need to get out of the first round and I sure as hell don't want to face the Suns with a healthy Steve Nash.
I'm optimistic but I'm also realistic. I think if the Rockets make it to the second round, it will be progress. The Rox haven't won a series in ten years, so we can't expect them to start winning championships all of a sudden. I think it's done in steps, so in two or three years, we could be winning championships.
It depends how we lose - if we just get by the better team, there's no a whole lot you can complain about. Especially if this team goes on to win it all. That being said, there'll be a lot of pressure if we don't make it to the second round. But like someone previously said, we're not expected to win in the second round against a Dallas, Phoenix, or SA.
I really think that the window for T-mac and Yao is closing quickly. They are in win now mode and you just never know if Tmac's back will hold up or if Yao will have more frequent, persistent, and serious injuries as he ages in this league. Nothing less than a championship will be acceptable to me. However, should they not make it to or out of the West finals I just don't want to lose to the Mavs of all teams, then the spurs second. I guess above all I want to see the full potential of having Yao and T-mac and all the role players healthy leading up to and into the postseason. Go Roxs and stay healthy.
you see...there we go. there is not much better than Dr of Dunk giving us his take. just reminds me how little Will will show? Am I the only one to say that Will is the most pessimistic poster on the board...like twice as much as CriscoKidd. what? all Will does is say: "it's so ironic that 2 months ago the BBS wanted to fire Rudy and now after we fired him we want him back." and you can fill in the particulars as you wish...like Barkely, Hakeem, JVG, #33, Cuttino, Francis, K9.... Will is just here to make fun of us. if not, he will post his take to this Clutch poll....what? Will? you just like to make fun of us....or are you really so pessimistic to not respond to Clutch's poll...
The 'wild card' here is Yao: can he come back and resume playing at the level he was playing at before his injury? More importantly, can the team develop the type of chemistry they need to beat teams that might have an edge over them in terms of playoff experience and roster stability (Spurs, Mavs, Suns)? Regardless, we will only have a few weeks to get everyone on the same page...the clock is ticking.
We are serious contenders----so, what can I say? NBA title for sure. C'mon Rockets, make it for me and all other ROX fans, NOW, THIS YEAR!.
You know what I really want? I want the Rockets to play either the Spurs, mavericks, or suns in the first round. The reason why I say that is because I just don't think the Rockets are going to win it all with JVG. If you let him take the easy road out and advance to second round, the rockets will probably give him a contract extension. Then the rockets will be stuck with a coach that can get to the playoffs, but not win the championship. By playing either one of the top 3 teams he gets to prove whether or not he is worthy of a contract extension. If not, show him the door.
Would you be satisfied if... Hi. Would you be satisfied if the Rockets went only to the second round of the playoffs this season? Three camps of thoughts: Two for " Yes " 1.) We never went past the first round in 10 years so this would be a milestone. - and - 2.) We play in the West and there's no shame in being eliminated in the second round; possibly from a true contending team like the Mavs or Suns. One of " No " 3.) We expect this team to compete enough to get to the Western Conference Finals. Our potential is as good as any of the Suns, Mavericks, and Spurs. Why not us? ... Ladies and gentlemen, your thoughts please?
No cause if we only made it to the second round, that would mean we lost to the mavs...and I hate the damn mavs!
No......even with our flaws. We can hang with any team in this league. There is no reason why we can't win it all this year.
"YES" if we execute well and play with intensity but fall short in a competitive 6 or 7 game series "NO" if we get swept, or play like we have been recently minus the Denver game.
I'd be somewhat satisfied with a first round win and a loss in the second round, but only if it were to one of the big two. It's a step in the right direction and we don't match up well against Phoenix. And Dallas, regardless of how much most of you hate them, is the best team by leaps and bounds this season...barring injuries. That said, we could still win it all if we stay healthy and gel and play hard. But if we do lose in the first round, I am all for firing JVG...and I have supported him for the most part historically.
