Rocks10 said he was coming home today, maybe we should have a live draft tonight and knock a few rounds out before spring break actually starts.
If you are going to be away for a while you may want to appoint a surrogate. POst a thread and see if you get any responses. You might try asking someone in the other league to pick for you if you don't want to send a list to someone in our draft. On a similar note, do we have a draft deadline? Like a certain amount of time to pick. if so what are the consequences? A tribunal to choose the best player or do you get skipped? What is the official rule or consensus? CK
Uh, good question. I said 24 hours, but didn't say anything about a penalty. I'll be around enough to make my pick in a reasonable amount of time, at least Major has my number and stuff.
I should be, as well, but I just know how things go. When someone misses a full day people start getting antsy. When someone announces they may be gone for more than a day people really start getting worked up. I just wanted to make sure everyone had their bases covered. I'm for having some sort of penalty like the tribunal or you saying I would pick this player for them then having to have a certain number of people agree. That would make people think twice about not leaving a list. I don't want to be an ass about it but I know that once the season actually starts it is less likely for any deals to go down so getting the draft done ASAP will make the league more fun.
I say anyone who goes more than 6 hours without a pick will either forfeit that pick, or be subjected to one of the following players: Brandon Puffer Ricky Stone Jose Lima Gregg Zaun Mike Jackson Adam Everett Chris Truby
Hey RIET, what's the big idea? Drafting Rollins and Tejada? Don't you realize there's not very many quality shortstops? I may be interested in trading for Rollins.
DC, If you want to make a trade, Ill give you: Jeff Kent (13) Jimmy Rollins (108) 156 for Soriano (8) 128 137 Let me know
Decent trade, but Soriano's pretty much untouchable. Plus, I'm not even sure if Rollins will produce a whole lot more than a SS I picked right now. He had kind of an off-year last season. I just like him because he's the closest to being in his prime of the remaining shortstops. I'd prefer to make a trade after the draft if you're still willing.
That's cool. The reason I proposed the deal is because it's a lot easier than after the draft since both of us have pitching weaknesses. Matching players could be difficult which is why I prefer controlling my own destiny. Of course Im always willing to listen to offers. The difference between Kent and Soriano is the steals which Rollins will replace. I think he'll bounce back, especially in runs scored with the addition of Thome.
Yeah, I was thinking about a trade of Rollins and one of his late-round picks for two of my middle round picks, and we would just pick for each other, but I decided against it. 128. Randy Winn
