Who do you root for in the Jazz/Hornets game tonight? I say the Jazz. I can see the Hornets losing enought to slip out of the playoffs. A fair number of home games, and only 1 back-to-back, but their March schedule is brutal anyway (Clippers twice, Lakers twice, Phoenix, NJ, San Antonio, Houston, Memphis)

hornets. that should keep utah where they are.

we are really close in this race. couple of wins here and there..and couple of loses by those teams and we should be at 8th spot!

Personally, I'd much rather get the 6th seed and play Denver in the first and THEN Phoenix.

Not too far fetched, actually. We're only 6 games out of the 6th seed. But one thing at a time. Let's just get back in the mix first and then we'll worry about who we play.

Man, whoever comes in 2nd place in the SW Division is really getting the shaft. 2nd best record in the conference and a 4th seed. I think they should just seed by record only. Who cares if you win your division.

Agreed. The league is now reviewing the playoff format, especially to address the problem of the top two teams in the conference meeting in the second round instead of the conference finals.

I've never understand the 'who's best in the division' thing. Who cares? Does anybody care how we fare in the division? What matters is how we fare in the conference, to me.

ya plus..they keep saying we are 5th in the southwest..who the hell cares..we are not trying to move up to 4th in the division. we just want 8th spot in the conference!

We're only four games out with teams like the Lakers and Hornets fading and question marks like the Grizzlies and Clippers.

    I like our chances.

I want the Rockets to make the play-offs for the sole purpose of beating Dallas up to make up for a scratchy, inconsistent and frustrating season and payback.

I want JVG to have a 24 volume tome of game plans, analysis and preparation to pound Dallas taking into account all questionable and blown calls, possible 4 quarter meltdowns and any other crap Dallas will come up with. He also needs to lighten up and take Rudy T's "Never Underestimate The Heart of a Champion" coaching 101 course.

I want T-mac to blow up the 06 play-offs and make it his. Raining 3's, attacking the basket, getting 12-15 Ft's a night and flat out prove he is "The Mac." He needs to take the Hakeem Olajuwon 1995 WCF 101 refresher course, get that quiet, bad-ass disrespected/outraged mentality and take it out on Dirk and Dallas.

I want Yao to finally silence the haters and put up monster numbers to complement T-Mac. He must attend the same refresher course as T-Mac with a hypnotist in tow. He imagines and plays like he is Hakeem and Dampier is Robinson. :)

I want the suporting clique to finally get with the program, execute correctly and abuse the seams, gaps and openings that appear when T-Mac and Yao get double and triple coverage. This requires special face to face tutorials. Which is why Mario Elie will be conducting lessons before and after games until it sinks in and we see lot more KoD's moments. Attendance is compulsory.

    Class is in session.

    More good news:

The Warriors (who are 1/2 game ahead of us) play San Antonio today. SA will certainly beat them, dropping them a half game.

Tomorrow, we play Orlando. If we can beat them, we move up a half game over the Warriors.

Has every team from a division ever made the playoffs. Because if it hasn't happened before it will this year with our division. I just hope the Rockets start beating some of these teams, so far we're 0'fer.

EDIT: There's an echo in here!

    Utah lost tonight.
    Golden State lost tonight.

After we win tomorrow, we'll be 1/2 game ahead of Golden State.

If Lakers lose to Boston tomorrow (which probably won't happen) we'll be only 3 games out from that playoff spot.

    GO BOSTON!!!!

I think our playoff chances will be determined by the first game of the six game road trip out west in early April.

That first game is against the Lakers, who we should have won against the last time we played them. Because the Lakers are 8th, it's worth twice as much as a regular game. We play the Lakers, Sonics, Blazers, Warriors, Kings, and Jazz with two back two backs in the trip.

If we win that Laker game, I seriously believe we will win the rest of the games (only the Lakers are above .500) on the road trip and will be riding high as we close out the season

And if we lose, it will be awfully hard to catch up to the Lakers. Minnesota and Denver will be fighting it out for the division lead, so expect them to show up strong.

We close out the season with a game against the Spurs, but I figure this won't be a normal late season meeting with them. The Spurs usually coast the last week of the season by resting their starters, but this season they are in a tight race for the division lead. Unless they have the division wrapped up by then, expect a DETERMINED Spurs team to show up and give us one hell of a fight.

    gsw(rocks break tie, 2-1)
    hou
minny(1-1, one more game to be played) -31 losses

    sac(rocks break tie, 2-1) -30 losses

    utah(rocks break tie, 2-1) -29 losses

lakers(currently lakers break tie with a higher win% in west conf) -27 losses

*Every game is important, winning Western conference games are important, especially so. Rocks are chasing two things things 8th seed and win% in West to own tiebreak against Fakers.

    Orlando a must win game.

    Suns a must win game

tie-breaker against Lakers will be determined by who wins our 3rd and final game against them.
