check out NOK's schedule the rest of the way, they're not making the playoffs... lakers prolly gonna make it, so it's the kings/rockets/jazz battling for the eight spot

from this spurs matchup to the next spurs matchup, we'll figure out whether the rockets can make it to the playoffs

No, that's not enough to beat the Spurs. Yao has to have a monster game, maybe not 50 but 30+, and the defense has to slow down Parker and Ginobilli.

    Dammit!

Sacramento beat the mavericks. Friggin' Kings are 8-2 in their last 10 games. This is so aggravating. We're stuck at 3 games out.

Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is a train.

what's worse is that we, as fans of the rockets, are stuck rooting for the lakers tomorrow when sac plays la. sickening.

And if Yahoo's standing's aren't already updated, this means the kings are now the #8 seed

Still plenty of time though, we'll get 'em. Yao said so.

Ron Artest sure as hell revived that team.

Not saying we should've picked him up, but you gotta wonder what he would've done here..

I think with the Kings playing the way they've been doing so during the last several weeks, it's inevitable they get the 8th or maybe even 7th seed (depending on the Lakers) in the playoffs.

It's just not meant to be this year I guess : :(

you don't have to. what matters is the loss column. they are even there. So you can root for either team depending on who you think would drop more easily.

at this point, you need to root for the stronger team (Sacramento) and hope that Lakers (and Hornets) freefall into oblivion. that's the only hope for the Rockets.

Our hope is the down of the LAL. SAS will replace NOK without doubt. The five games of SAC, NOK, HOU vs LAL will put the situation straight.

Rockets and Kings are in so there's no need to cheer for the Lakers. New Orleans is crumbling as well so I like our odds.

you forgot Dallas on the 15th this week. i going to guess that you assumed that Houston would win that game to go 14-5 through the rest of the season.

the first team of the three (Rockets, Kings, Lakers) to reach 40 wins will clinch a playoff birth. the Kings can get really close by the end of March. on the other hand if the Rockets lose 4 or more games this month (34-38 or worse), their finished.

I feel pretty confident that we can pass up Utah and NOK. But that's not enough. We need to pass LAL or SAC, and they're not plummeting like they should.

LAL had surprising wins against the Spurs and Pistons, and their schedule is about to get a lot softer.

SAC just beat Dallas and Memphis, and has won 8 of their last 10 games.

We need one of those two teams to lose some games. Both of those teams are gonna have tough schedules in April (though SAC's is harder than LAL's). This is going to go down to the wire.

Forget about passing Sac, it's not going to happen. They're going to stay white-hot during Ron's honeymoon phase (and supernova when he inevitably tops himself with a first-degree murder).

Lakers have been consistently a shade over 0.500 the past few months, and I doubt that changes. They'll nab 42 or 43 wins.

Clips have unfortunately righted their ship and should stay out of reach. Thankfully the Hornets are falling apart in their place. I have no fear whatsoever of the Jazz.

We're on a pace to go 42-40 on the year, but the loss of McGrady makes it highly unlikely we'll be able to make a late surge for 45 wins. The biggst key, IMO, is that we absolutely, positively can not afford a let down game against lesser teams like Seattle or the Warriors. Any losses to an underdog seal our fate because we simply are unable to make up that ground.

Well, you said here that you don't feel that we can pass SAC.

You also say that we're on pace to to 42-40 but the Lakers will have 42 to 43 wins. That means that we woudn't pass either. But then you say that we have to win against the lesser teams. Are you saying that you think we can pass SAC or LAL? Or that we can't and we won't make the playoffs? or what?

Actually the Lakers stock might plummet a bit now that Chris Mihm is injured (thanks, Chris Wilcox!). Their inside game is just about done with that loss.

(By the way did anyone see that replay? That was just nasty .. he got dunked on so hard that he rolled his ankle badly on the landing).
