Jazz is toast. Clippers is extremely unpredictable. It's possible that they might pull off a win for us. Everyone knows at this point, it's an extremely long shot. But hey, if full-court hail mary shots can go in, we still have a chance.
not really.. What is the situation today? seems like we are pretty much toast unfortunately. I have tried to be optimistic but relying on others to lose is a tough place to be. If we 'controlled our own destiny' then that might be another story.
Umm... look at the schedules- Memphis is definitely not our best chance. They only have to win 3 out of Clippers 2x, Sactown, Portland, NO. 3 of those they *should* win, and two I feel they're still favorites in, but, for argument's sake we can say they could go either way. NO has to win 2 out of hou, phx, mem, uta, dal. Assuming we win (because if we don't all this discussion is completely pointless, anyway), 2 of the remaining they should win, and 2 they should lose. Or you could say 1 they should lose and 1 is even. The three way tie scenario has never been worth mentioning because it requires us to tie Memphis, which would result in our getting in either way. In other words it's a bit less likely, and gives us no benefit except for being something interesting.
hmm... I expressed that second thing wrong. NO's 2 they *should* win are a lot less lopsided than Memphis' 3 they *should* win. Utah or Phoenix could definitely steal a win against NO, especially if PHX has nash playing.
If the Hornets go 2-3 and we win our last 5, we are in. Hornets: Houston L Phoenix W @ Memphis L Utah W @ Dallas L I say we are in if we win out
Wrong. Have you not read through any of the last few pages of this thread? New Orleans holds the tiebreaker over us. 2 wins puts Hornets at 46, and all 5 puts us at 46. They would have to go 1-4, unless it ends up being a three way tie with Memphis in which case we would get in.
I was thinking is the Rocket guy really that stupid? And then I saw the space. New Orleans owns the tiebreaker. Utah sucks. We need losses in Memphis Phoenix and Dallas and we have to take care of business. I thought it was over when we lost to Miami and New Orleans beat Utah and Phoenix without West.
If we got ONE win from last Eastern trip, things would be much better. I would have rested our major players in Miami for beating Philly. Don't throw eggs at me. I know, that is why I am watching instead of coaching.....
We did get one win. We beat New Jersey. I think you mean if we had gotten two wins....either Miami or Philadelphia. The Miami game was competitive, and we were in it until the very end. Resting our players would have killed the momentum we had gathered leading up to the game, and messed up our rhythm going forward. Also, what kind of message does it send to your team when you bench all your best guys in a game that's hanging in the balance??
I really wish Adelman would rest at least 1 of our key players tonight against Sacramento for the entire game, e.g., sitting Scola out the entire game. We will need someone with fresh legs to take over tomorrow at New Orleans.
