he single handedly made us lose 2 games before he got traded...i'm mean that...he really lost those games and killed our momentum playing those minutes in such a horrible way
Hopefully Phoenix loses tonight. Our next game vs Utah is HUGE!!! After this Boston game I think the team has that sense of Urgency now.
44.8% chance of making the playoffs according to Hollinger. http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds
the rockets are 9th? accoring to nba.com, they are 10th http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Std_Cnf.html
Hollinger's Playoff Odds are sorted by percentage of making playoffs. Officially, Rockets are 10th seed.
The 8th seed, rather than the 7th would be awesome. I'd much rather face the Spurs as I think the Rockets match-up better with them than LAL or DAL. Plus, I'd rather see OKC or DEN in the 2nd round. Think about this, the Rockets are a couple of bad calls and bad breaks away from being 2-1 against San Antonio this season. With the Rockets new found focus on defense I think they would stand a much better chance than the ordinary 8th seed.
I agree, SA doesn't want to see us in the playoffs...especially knowing we have Scola and the supposed "spur killer Dragic"....but yes we match up better so I'm focused on getting #8..
Well hopefully Boston comes back and beats New Orleans. I think it might actually be easier to over take New Orleans than it would be to pass up Memphis based on their strength of schedules. New Orleans has a ridiculous schedule and Memphis has about 5-6 tough games left on their schedule. One good thing about both of their schedules is the fact that NO and Memphis play each other 2 more times this season, hopefully they'll eliminate each other for the Rockets to move past one of them
Miami beat Denver(Doesnt really matter though, Denver safe) Boston beat New Orleans Memphis beat Indiana Portland beat Philadelphia Today: Phoenix @ LA Clippers Portland @ LA Lakers and of course us --Utah @ Houston
Hollinger has Houston at 44.8% as has been said and missing the playoffs by 1 game. Here's what I think he probably projects. Remaining Schedule Utah W GS W @ Mia L @ NJ W @ Phi L SA L Atl W Sac W @NO L LAC W Dal W @ Min W He likely assumes Dallas is resting starters, but that may or may not happen. In any event, the Rockets would need to win all games he projects as wins and take a game @ Miami or Philly (2nd of B2B), home against San Antonio (best chance in my opinion), or @ New Orleans (2nd of B2B). I hope the Rockets can blow out NJ and not have to play starters so many minutes so that they can be a little fresher for Philly the next night. Philly will have played @ Chicago 2 days before. I'm not very hopeful of rolling into NO on a B2B and stealing that game when NO will have had 3 days between games. Some are optimistic that NO can drop off, but I'm not so sure with them having a nice 5 game homestand coming up. Odds are they go 6-5 down the stretch. If that happens then the Rockets would still have to go 11-1 to finish 1 game ahead of NO. Very doubtful we pass New Orleans. With that said, a head to head win @ NO for Houston would lower the needed projected finish to 10-2 as a Houston win @ NO is not projected. In any event, we should probably pull for NO in any matchups with Memphis, Phoenix, or even Utah. NO @ Utah L @ Phoenix (B2B) L @ LAL L Port L Mem W Indy W Houston W Phoenix W @ Mem L Utah (B2B) W @ Dal W
Side-note: This wouldn't really wouldn't change the Rockets making or not making the playoffs as they will always win a tiebreak versus Memphis, but it would result in Houston jumping over New Orleans in seeding if it were to happen. If Houston were to upset New Orleans in their last game and Memphis were to win their 2 remaining games with New Orleans then the Rockets would win a potential 3-way tiebreaker between New Orleans, Memphis and Houston on the basis of a better head to head total between the 3 teams. Houston 3-1 vs. Memphis, 2-2 vs. New Orleans (5-3 total) Memphis 1-3 vs. Houston, 2-2 vs. New Orleans (3-5 total) New Orleans 2-2 vs. Houston, 2-2 vs. Memphis (4-4 total)
Spurs were blowing out the Rockets the 1st game in San Antonio, until the Rockets came back, and of course you know what happened there. Spurs blew out the Rockets the 2nd game in San Antonio. Spurs had a good lead in the 1st half, and Rockets came back again slowly but when Spurs started playing D the last few minutes of the game, the Rockets couldn't score, maybe because of Scola wasn't there. besides the Jazz having the 8th seed, the Rockets would be my next favorite choice to be the 8th seed. Sure the Rockets are a good team, but as a Spurs fan they don't scare me now that Brooks is gone,(really), and have no force in the paint, unless the Rockets get Thabeet in the rotation and becomes a force in the paint, then I don't see the series going no more than 5, when Duncan is playing fulltime minutes like he did the other night in Dallas, when the mavs had a hard time scoring in the paint, Manu and Parker would be having lay up drills. It would be a good series, and a matchup we haven't seen in over a decade I hope it happens, I'm tired of playing the Mavs every year.
if jordan hill wakes the **** up, then the spurs would fold...and i mean that, its not a homerism statement
