Judge being nationally mocked, the Yankees imploding, and the Dodgers winning 100% behind hired guns (Freeman, Yamamoto, Ohtani). Even casual fans now know Judge is a fraud and the Dodgers took a massive shortcut only they could afford. It’s as close as we could have hoped to the lose-lose scenario we all wanted from this World Series.
I am a bit surprised Judge has not been more productive but maybe he just isn't good in the playoffs. That is why I value quality pitching over big time sluggers like Judge, they will go hot and cold at the worst time. I hate the Dodgers, but I hate the Yankees worse and to deny Judge is a cherry on the top. I think the Yankees take the next 2 and then the Dodgers do it at home........................but to be honest IDGAF
I'm telling you the national and MLB sports conversion after the Dodgers win will be that since 2017: Astros: 7 ALCS, 4 WS, 2 Titles but 2017 is "tainted". Core is aging and they won't be favorites to win another. Dodgers: 6 NCLS, 4 WS, 2 Titles but 2017 was "stolen by Astros" even if 2021 was "pandemic year". Core is still on edge of prime they would still be favorites for a couple more years. This could easily become how the national media consider the Rockets 94-95 Titles, as if they didn't or shouldn't have happened.
This actually makes sense. Yankees have to win 3 games to get to anything can happen game 7. Putting Cole out there for 1-2 innings to get the win and then losing the option to pitch him in Game 5, makes that impossible. Red Sox did the same thing when they came back from 0-3, holding Schilling and Pedro for games 5 and 6.
If you're the Yankees, do you just add the extra year and retain him? His elbow issue early on a concern? Use his money towards Soto and someone cheaper? Can Cole get more if he opted out?
I almost went to tonight's game as the tickets dropped to under $500 each. Would've been awesome to see Yankee fans in distress
