It sounds reactionary after last night, but I was thinking this was a bad team for the Bulls to face. Bulls only advantage is at PG, especially with Hinrich out...but Rose tweaking his ankle and pressing too hard to score is negating that. Boozer has a tendency to nurse nagging injuries and play soft, and that is going to hurt against this Hawks frontline.

With the Hawks amped up and finding their swagger, this will be a tough series for Chicago.

you missed the most important part of this factoid, it was 1988. anyway that montage of the 97 bulls/hawks series was great.

the hawks played a lot better than they did in any game against orlando on the offensive end. impressive ball movement

    Hope ya'll enjoyed that.

Despite how morale boosting last night had to have been for Atlanta, this series is far from over. Sure, Chicago overachieved in the regular season and likely isn't as good as their record indicates, but don't lose sight of the fact that this Hawks team can fall apart at any moment. I'll be praying that doesn't happen but the possibility still exists.

Plus, it's not like all those wild, contested fadeaways Atlanta was hitting are going to fall all series. That ISO, one-on-one crap catches up with you eventually.

Should be an interesting series. I'll be cheering my heart out for the underdogs here and praying Larry Drew is indeed capable of some offensive creativity.

no, it was the 1997 series, 2nd game.

looking at atlanta's franchise history just now, for some reason i thought they made a ECF during the 80's. apparently not. amazingly, they haven't played in a conference finals since 1970. and that was so long ago that they were in the west, and it was called the western division, not conference.

The Hawks lost in 7 in the East Semi's to the Celtics one year in the late 80's.
That was when Bird and Wilkins were both going off in game 7.

Chicago's defense failed them in game 1, or was it just because Joe Johnson was playing out of his mind?

he won't repeat that type of performance in this series again so chicago can relax. what they need is to get rose going.

Derek Rose live on SC said his favorite moment so far has been his buzzer beater in the Rockets meltdown, since that was his first game winner.

Both. Chicago's sorry defense from the start allowed the Hawks to get comfortable and feel at home. I expected the Bulls to be especially energetic on defense and rattle the Hawks from the beginning. Then JJ (with help from Crawford) went unconscious and prevented the Bulls from closing out the game on a run.

If Chicago gets their defense going, they will be fine and score enough. Can't see the Hawks winning 3 more times unless the Bulls just lay down and die.

I'm concerned Rose is just plain worn out (and has been for a while). The heavy burden he carried this season was something he hadn't done before.

I think ATL wins this series. I counted the hometown team out initially but I'm gonna give them the nod.

    ATL in 6 or 7

he's 22. many guys in their first year as a superstar have done it longer and at a higher efficiency than rose has this year.

i think his struggles are attributed to teams finally forcing him to take that J. and he's taking it, but missing. what he needs to do right now is really allow boozer to develop some semblance of inside play to make it easier for him. he's playing more like allen iverson (but not as good) than a PG in these playoffs. people may say that boozer has been sucking blah blah blah. but deron made boozer look like a freakin' stud every year. rose needs to do the same.

He hasn't looked right all year but I still have nightmares of him taking Yao to the back of the woodshed a few years ago.
