I think McNabb is actually a fairly smart player which is why he has had the longevity that he has. The problem is that when he has made some mistakes they have been memorable ones like not realizing there can be ties in the NFL. As you can tell I'm a McNabb fan but he certainly has had his flaws and gaffes.

under. Hes the most criticized Philly player, and hes arguably their best besides Brian Dawkins and Brian Westbrook

McNabb is my favorite active athlete because of the way he handles all the crap he gets.

Huh? Brees had multiple fourth quarter comeback wins this year alone (see below), as well as leading a staggering comeback just last week from a 30-10 fourth quarter deficit against the NFL's best team (Carolina) to take a 31-30 lead, only to have his defense blow it in the closing seconds.

A top five QB list without Drew Brees is just silly.

Especially when you look at the no-names he's had at receiver his entire career. Outside of 1 year with Owens, he's never even had an above-average receiver there.

Clock management isn't entirely his fault. Andy Reid can be blamed for some of it and in the past few years, especially this past season he (Reid) has taken some heat for it. The Eagles recent success has made those cries disappear though.

I agree with the sentiments here that McNabb is completely under-appreciated by the fans in Philadelphia. It could be worse, they could have David Carr or Tony Romo. :p Seriously though, Andy Reid had a good line about quarterbacks one time and it went something like this: A quarterback receives too much credit when a team succeeds and an unfair amount of credit when a team fails.

Yeah I was trying to make more of a point that even while McNabb's numbers (and even the amount of success with the teams he's given) should put him in any discussion of top NFL players, he almost never get named.

Well I stand corrected. I overheard it from Sirius NFL Radio on my way to work a few weeks ago. I still rather those 5 QBs than Brees.

I think they ran a similar stat during the game over the weekend because I'd heard the same thing.

he certainly is playing like a top 5 qb right now. his receivers aren't that great either. all he really has is westbrook and he still manages to do as well as he does, but their defense is awesome all the time.

Its going to be interesting to see how Desean Jackson develops. McNabb might finally have another big play receiver but hopefully McNabb will be around long enough to see if Jackson can live up to his potential.
