I've said this before and i'll say it again: financial implications aside, if the Hornets trade CP3 they do not to deserve to have a team.

The only thought I find more ridiculous than this is the idea of us possibly trading for Arenas and his franchise-killing contract. You can rest assured knowing Morey isn't that stupid.

    Mcgrady for:

    Joe Johnson
    Ramon Sessions + Micheal Redd/Charlie V
    or Caron Butler.

I dont want Baron Davis here. Or Gilbert.

    Or Monta Ellis and Biedrins.

    I would love that move.

wasn't there talks about Charlie Villanueva being traded for Landry and a filler?? I wonder what happened.

I wonder how this team would have looked. Villanueva is the tall athletic PF we need also. At 6'11 and capable of spreading the floor this team on paper would have been a nightmare for opponents

joe johnson is easily the best player mentioned.

johnson + a backup center and resgining artest and we're set.

we don't need a pg since the platoon of brooks and lowry worked out ok and johnson can handle point in clutch situations.

imagine johnson at pg, battier at sg, artest at sf, scola at pf, yao at c in the clutch.

great defense, size, and scoring ability everywhere.

but the problem is getting johnson and resigning artest is going to be difficult.

Most of these trades are pipe dreams. One that isn't is getting Yi from the Nets, how about Brian Cook who isn't doing squat here in Houston for Yi, Nets might want a pick also. So far Yi has underwhelmed but with Yao here this might be a good situation for him, he has upside.

Everyone is making all these crazy trades. Why?? We advanced to the 2nd round. Was one game away from making it to the western conference finals. Mind me we were 3 key players down. Why would yall want to break up this team??? Makes no sense.

BTW all these crazy trade proposals happening are just funny. Most of you guys would be horrible G.M. Where is the trade thread anyway. Its the offseason shouldn't it be reopened???

it's basically speculation on what we could get for t-mac + filler.

It's not about frustration over the playoffs - it's the fact that
    a) a unique situation has developed where we can potentially win big in trades from a talent standpoint and position ourselves as contenders (a la the Gasol trade)

    b) there is significant concern about staying the course with two injury-riddled stars that likely have a short window. Boston is the best example of a team that held on too long to a nucleus (Bird/McHale) and saw their franchise wallow for more than a decade as a result.

Personally, I don't think there's more than a 5% chance that McGrady stays a Rocket for more than a year. I'd want to get a piece of the future for him, and we might be able to get more value for him than we otherwise could, thanks to the financial desperation of teams out there.

Personally, I don't think we can expect better from Yao than what we got this year. He's terrific, but there will always be a high risk of season-ending injuries because of his body. I don't think he will ever be a guy that dominates a series. That he averaged 16 ppg against Portland was awfully worrisome for me. I don't want to trade him at all, but we can't build around him thinking he can carry the load like Dream could.

Let's look out there and see what we can do.

I gotta disagree. They were pretty shrewd for the most part with their moves. I think they would have been fine into the 90s if cocaine didnt kill people.

and we might be able to get more value for him than we otherwise could, thanks to the financial desperation of teams out there. The Rox will have to take back 27-30mm for McTracy IMHO. If I am anywhere near correct that means one good player, one terrible contract and one more somewhere in between (GSW, for example: Monta/Crawford and who's the 3rd? Biedins? OK. Maggette? Only if I can flip him (sorry, DD, I lack the lust in CM that you possess).

That he (Yao) averaged 16 ppg against Portland was awfully worrisome for me.

If Yao were a selfish soul he would have averaged 20+ and maybe the Rox lose? Don't underestimate the winning heart of the Rockets' star 5!
